On my bike(83 750 maxim) im pretty sure the front blinkers do not double as running light too? If not, can they be made to be running lights? I see most motorcycles have that.

Ok, so i have found my own answer. The only XJ's that had the fron running lights were the 1100 and 700. I also read that the bikes without have a wire connector in the headlight bucket to make them into running lights by adding a 3rd wire? Ill look into this. Chime in if anybody has done this.

I was wondering the same thing. My neighbor told me I'll fail inspection because my front signals aren't also running lights. But I've passed before and I could swear they weren't working then. Good to know they weren't running lights before. I was thinking of putting some on though on the side where the reflectors are and somewhere on the back fender.

im not familiar enough with xj specific wiring, but you could do some custom wiring and make all the lights running lights, and when you wanted them to blink they would just blink off, rather than blink on....not really sure if that makes sense. it does in my head.

you could also run another wire, and change the single filament bulbs and sockets out for 1157 type bulbs.

My '82 Maxim has a stock Yamaha fairing with the blinkers doubling as running lights. The running light wire is light blue.
Since I have no auxiliary light on the fairing I wired them so I can turn them on or off with the auxiliary light switch on the handlebars.

Maz, that makes sense why others have said there is a connector in the headlight bucket for this. It was probably there for the optional fairing.
Thanks for the color of the wire. I will check into it.
