I'm in Sooke and I just bought an 82 Seca 750 3 days ago. It was very difficult to start cold, so I followed the procedure to clean the choke circuit. Starts right away now - all praise to whoever created and posted the detailed instructions found on this forum. Thanks to this website, I now have an owner and service manual, too.

I'm a ferry ride away...though am planning a trip on the island in the near future.

YVRxj650, when you know the date let me know; maybe we go for a ride. By the way, if you've not ridden here before, the drivers hear are slow and stupid. They signal like 20 times before a lane change and take 30 to 40 seconds just to get through an intersection. When I was in Hope earlier this summer I couldn't get over how EVERYONE knows what the f**k they're doing! People on the mainland seem to actually understand the the roads support MUCH higher speeds than those posted and only signal once to change lanes- oh, and they do it right away too!

Thanks LTJackboot.
As I said in my recent introductory post (with pics) in the general forum....I have just applied for collector plates for my bike. It takes a couple weeks, and in the interim, the bike is not insured. I have a permit to ride this weekend, tho.
As for coming to the island, have family in esquimalt, and head over a few times each summer. If/when I bring the maxim, I'll drop you a note. Cheers.

For anyone on the island who is interested, I have just started a thread for a planned XJ ride in Vancouver and the lower mainland on May 29, 2010.
Details to follow.

New owner here, bought the bike in Calgary but I will be spending most of my time with the bike out in Victoria assuming I get it running by the time I move out there. I look forward to riding some nice roads out there and maybe meeting up wiht some of you.
Cheers,
Kyle
