Does anyone know where to find the above, in particular I am looking for an on/off /reserve fuel tap/valve to replace the vacuum operated pet chook, no tank mod's. Preferably in Aus'. Yer I know Chacal has them(no offence Chacal) Other parts swapability within yamaha welcome as well.

That's because of the period at the end of the sentence. If you type

    www.motogrid.com

in your browser, you'll get to a site that sells motorcycle parts and has IPB's for most bikes, including all the XJ's, online.

Well I have nearly found a swap, however this turned up in my web studies, a mod' for the original vac' petcock to on/off/res', had been thinking it could be done this proves it ----www.xs750e.com/page25.htm-----that comes up on top in my browser. The petchook for the xs is not exactly the same as the xj layout but the method is there. The difference being I have to not only remove a bit of metal from the actual tap but fill a bit as well.

The mod' is done, the diaphragm is in the rubbish bin, the proper place for it. Fill the hole (I 'spose you would call it JB weld in the u.s) the diaphragm O ring sits in up to flush with where the cover screws on , careful not to fill the inlet from the tank and the central outlet but do fill the lower outlet from diaphragm side, in the selector lever fill the curved valley. Allow to set, sand level with fine paper. EDIT...forgot to put in this bit---with the lever in the upside down position make new valley from bottom of vertical valley (6 o'clock position back to 3 o'clock position)... Cut off most of the lever, make a new lever and bolt it on at 180 deg' to original, turn face plate upside down, put it together. I put the vac' cover back on with a homemade paper 'n goo gasket as insurance. Cap the vac port on intake manifold. ON is down OFF is forward RES back. Your petchook may be different in its geograghy. Cost $14 and a coupla hours. ....... That'll get ya thinking. (That maybe he's nuts?)
