Want one for your XJ??? See if you can find a 1994 (or there abouts) XJR

    Check out these....

Photo 1 shows 3 oil coolers... Left is an XJ650, middle a 94 XJR400 and an XJ900 on the right...

Good idea, that will probably adapy to most XJs. I hope your next project will be to replace the bent forks so you can ride.

Can you measure the swingarm for me?, width across the front from inside of frame to inside of frame where it pivots and length from swingarm pivot to centre of rear axle?

Thinking of a swingarm out of one of these for my 550 project

I'm having an issue with the union bolt assembly. The bolt I puchased is not the same in the pictures above. the one I got 90401-20145-00, is much shorter and does not pass the oil cooler plate. Can someone help me out on this? It will look sweet and be a performance and practicality upgrade. I'm almost there! But I need some insight on this!

Sounds to me like you need a standard adaptor plate bolt off any xj with an oil cooler

If you use a YAMAHA Oil Cooler Adaptor, ... you NEED the Union Bolt to affix the COOLER Plate the Engine:

    90401-20089-00 BOLT, UNION

Then, you NEED Yamaha Oil Lines which Mount to the Adapter.

Phillips~Lockhart used too market a Universal Kit.

We carry the cooler union bolts (and the special washer used with it), as well as complete spin-on filter kits that can be used with or without the factory oil coolers. Drop me a PM or e-mail and I'll get you all the info you need.

Also check the O ring under the centre securing bolt - it is often not included with cheaper Oil filter kits

That has nothing to do with the spin-on filter adapter plate. The oil filter bolt and cover get bagged and stored on a shelf once the adapter plate is installed.

lines should come off to check instalation.
new oring for housing if you can get correct size.
if there is a gap maybe check flatness of mating surfaces,

I do not have a cooler on most of my xjs but I use a thin coat of rtv on the filter housing to seal it. it is very fussy on its position on the motor .
sometimes it leaked when changed filter sometimes it doesent so i rtv the outter edge . the orings that come with filter are not correct size
