Couple of questions on these diaphragm, if the top hard plastic seal is cracked, but still staying put and not moving, can i re-use it? or is only a matter of time before that piece breaks off completely?
Secondly, why do these damn things cost so much!!! is there anyway i can just buy a rebuild kit, two seals and the rubber boot?

Are you talking about the rubber diaphragm in the carbs, like the diaphragm on the slide?

If so, then you HAVE to have an air tight seal around the outside of that diaphragm, can't be cracked at all, or the slide won't slide :)

I have successfully repaired a 6mm tear in a Diaphragm Rubber.
    It's surgery.

The Main ingredient is a Product called:
    Liquid Electrical Tape.

You can make a real mess if you don't cut the "Dabber" off the bottom of the screw-on cap.

    The stuff is amazing.
I called the Manufacturer and spoke to one of their Lead Chemists.
Once it goes on and sets-up, ... it's a done deal.
    Gas won't mess it up.

yeah the white plastic piece! thats good to know that if its not loose, because the actual rubber boot is fine, no pinholes, but the plastic locktab thing is cracked, but firmly in place

I think that Ring is in place to prevent the Diaphragm from being "Folded-over" at the point where it's attached to the Piston.

The Rubber has to "Drape-over" the ring, ... and, in doing so ... prevents the Rubber from developing a stress-fold and splitting.
