how is that a prime example of kbb prices being off.

if the bike is only valued at 2200. the book don't lie. it's also the holy bible on which banks have always loaned on. be thankful the guy isn't asking 6000 for the bike. instead of 400 difference you would have to pay. it would be 4200.

go to www.nada.com. i bet book value is lower.

book value isn't based on mph. it's based on the overall value of the bike.

did you look at kbb to see what book value is? if the bank would only loan you $2200 it's not becuase of book value. has to be other reasons.

book value lists it as $5740.

    www.kbb.com.
next time do your research before complaining. LOL.

yeah, nada is a rip off. seems to be the new thing lately. if you take on trade in. you get low end of nada value but when they sell it sells for high kbb. people are stupid and do it too.

I've been looking into buying a new-to-me xj, and I've noticed that kbb has two options, good trade in or good retail, both of which have to deal with a dealership.

NADA has excellent, very good, good, and fair.

A XJ750MK that I'm looking at would be $1095 from the dealership, $665 if I sold it to the dealership.

$1350, $875, $525, or $275 according to NADA RETAIL CONSUMER VALUES.

So the KBB fits right in with the NADA, but seems more precise with it's conditions to me, with one caveat.

I don't get the difference between GOOD and FAIR. Fair is only a "worthy core for restoration" and Good is "used but are still usable". Good has a note that basic maintenance might need to be done, but fair seems to be saying everything short of good, but not a "project or parts bike" (as Poor has it).

Also, what dealership (retail consumer values, right?) would sell a bike in that Fair condition. If it's not good, it's not "usable" as is, right?
