I installed the speedo in the center of the bars and ran the cable through the ignition channel, so relocating the ignition was a must.

Can you get a closer pic of the speedo?? I may have to reposition my ignition as well. Did you use 1/2 of a bar clamp to put it where you did? lookin' good...

Some pics of the forward cotrols. I made a braket that bolts to the upper engine mount and replaced the bolts with new grade 8 bolts. Then drilled holes to mount the original pegs and built the controls around them. They're not pretty but functional, besides after a coat of black you won't be able to tell anyway.LOL

I got the clubmans from JC Whitney for 22.50, just couldn't turn them down and I didn't have to change any of the cables or brake lines.

I used the exact same bars on my bike, they rock, I'm looking to do a solo speedo also, but most are for 1"-1/2" bars, guess I'll look at my whitney catalog again.

I got the tail light from J&P Cycles, it's for a Harley Fat Bob. I just welded a couple of bolts on the inside of the fender and sloted the mounting holes on the bracket and it fit great.

The paint is rattle can. I used Chevy Orange engine enamel and Gloss Black engine enamel. After I put the new battery in this weekend I'll finish adjusting the carbs (I Hope), finish some clutch adjustment and paint touch up. then I'll take a pic and send it in.

When last years riding season was coming to a close, the bike started backfiring and runing badly. Found out that the airbox boots had separated from the airbox. Under closer inspection the boots had become hard and cracked and the airbox was loose in the frame (broken mount on airbox), airbox was cracked on side and had a hole in the bottom. After seeing all the threads about pods and pvc intakes, I decided to make a pvc intake. I made the intake out of 1 inch pipe with 2 pod filters. I had also removed the mufflers and installed washer baffles but had to put mufflers back on or do a carb rejet. Scared mufflers back on till winter, then new pipes and carb rejet to follow, here's pics of the intake.

Well s$$t! Guess i'll be going thru the carbs since no. 1&3 are leaking and gas is blowing out the left exhaust pipe. I believe I'm also having firing issues with the coils. Will have to wait til I have more funds, guess there's always next year!

Thanks Kspalla, haven't had it running enough with the carb issues. I'll start cleaning the carbs this weekend (if the honeydo list writer lets me). The filters are oil breather filters I picked up at Advance Auto Parts for 12bucks each.

The filter squeezes inside the elbow joint and it is 1 inch pipe. I also made one out of 1 1/2 in case the 1 inch doesn't work. The battery placement is stock.

i was thinking 1 1/2" and the elbows would b a little big but use a short stubby piece at the carbs and filter.. get the desired size that way

One of the problems I faced was available space, the 1 1/2 inch takes up more space and you might have to make it in two pieces instead of one.

I had actually planned on using two pieces instead of one supply bar to even out the amount of air that would be dispersed to the carbs.

so one wasn't being starved on either end but that was still in the planning process... so it has yet to be seen

Took the carbs off yesterday, getting ready to take the plunge. One thing I noticed was that the adjustment screw at center bottom (big wheel), wasn't touching the throttle tab at all, so much for adjustments!

I 'll probably wait till late tonight to clean since it's 99 degrees with a heat index of 111, and its only 1:00pm. Temp is supposed to hit 103 by 5:00pm, God knows what the heat index will be. BTW I thought I read somewhere on here that Pinesol is a good carb cleaner, can anyone shed light on this?

Been cleaning the carbs, found out they're Mikuni's instead of Hitachi. Very difficult to read numbers on jets, using magnifing glass but still hard to see.

Very nice forward controls. Your right that some paint will make
    a great diff.

Have you colorsanded the tank yet? 3M "perfect it" is great suff but
around here you have to buy lg bottles at $30.00+ a pop.

Worth it if you 15-20 bikes to do lol.

I colorsanded the rear fender and put on the clear coat but came out with a flat look. Since I'm using rattle can I guess the clear just not that good. I resprayed the rear and left it alone.

Absolutely! It is great stuff to clean out old gas (or brake fluid) residue without harming any rubber bits. Downside is that it does remove paint (and a surface layer of skin if you get it on you for too long). Completely disassemble each carb, immerse entire rack (and pieces) in PineSol, soak until clean (some have attached electric pad sanders to create more "ultrasonic" action), rinse with water, dry thoroughly, reassemble. Here is the colossal discussion of it at the ADVRider forum:

What joints did you use between the carbs and the 1" PVC (and did you use schedule 30 or 40 PVC)?

All the pieces are schedule 40, the elbows have a slip on at one end and the T's have a 1inch piece connecting them and are cemented together. The filters attach to 2 elbows with the slip on joint and are just pushed in place. Thanks for the pinesol tip.
