    How's it going guys..
    This is my first post to the site, and i just want to say how helpful everyone has been in the other topics which i have used to learn quite a bit about my bike. (1985 xj700)

    Anyway, I have severed my spark plug wire to cylinder 1. I was just wondering if anyone knew if i could fix it in some way or am i stuck with buying a new ignition assembly for my bike.

    Any information would be great.
    Thanks

    WHERE was it severed? If close enough to the end, it can be cut off and the end simply screwed back on.

    If not, it COULD be spliced and then heat-shrink wrapped as a temporary measure;

    Otherwise you do Dremel surgery on the coil or replace it (one coil=two cylinders.)

    The plug wires are molded into the coils.

    It is severed flush with the top of the plug cap. Is this close enough to cut and screw back in? if so could you elaborate on that a little bit more, i don't quite understand how that would work.

    Investigate the NGK Spark Plug Wire Splice.
