EDIT: Page 3 contains my final PATCH design and the actual product received and website info.

This is aimed at sno (who I never see post) and anyone else who might know.

Is there a larger higher rez version of the logo? Moot point now since I made my own swirls

Why was Orange and Black (HD comon colors) picked? Yes they look good but still...

I have a few paint/decal ideas in my head for my black tank and was pondering a redder orange and white.

    Re: xjbikes.com site logo ??'s

Depending on what kinda response I get from Sno (or other moderators), I can share the high rez drawing I'm working on.

Because I'm doing it in illustrator, I can size/stretch/recolor in a few clicks. (Not bad for someone who barely knows how to use it).

Getting decals printed in low volume is not always easy/cheap. Not that I've actually tried yet.

The black/red/white combo I'm playing with currently looks sharp (similar to Xjforever logo above - color wise).

Some days I wish I had become a graphic designer even if I'm not very "artistic"...

Here's a nice combined idea. Currently sized for 4x2.5" oval. Color and size easily changeable inside illustrator.

If you right click on it, you can capture the image and throw it in "paint" or print it.

I tossed it into illustrator instead to make it a vector that can be easily scaled, stretched and recolored.

Nice, that's the way to go. I wonder if we could get a good number of people to front a couple bucks and get a batch printed. There are a couple places online that do pretty good quality/pricewise.

Looks good though, I like your version.

Wasn't something like this kicked around last year, but for a lapel pin? I did up a couple of cheap images. Gonna go look for them.

    Re: xjbikes.com site logo ??'s

    Never seen that post before.

I did find a site that does custom (any quantity including 1) patches.

Instead of embroidered its "inked". You have to provide the artwork and they basically print/ink it from your design.

My intent was not to step on Sno's or the website's toes, I just wanted to have something made up for myself not for profit.

Here is another WIP idea that it sized to fit a 4x3 Oval:
    [IMG] [IMG] or [IMG]
EDIT: Added blue version for color purist and lightened the alum rim on the blue version
EDIT 2: The wheel could easily be the circle enclosed tuning forks :)

Fyi: I hate making complex selections in Illustrator :(
I may try an engine next instead of the wheel, like XJ4Ever logo... That will be harder still.

    MORE EDITS:
Tossed in an engine. I might need to remove the airbox and maybe the frame still.
    [IMG] [IMG]
A printed version of the blue one looks nice on my vest. Though I do like the smaller size of the one's without the engine/wheel. Will print white next.

    Re: xjbikes.com site logo ??'s

Here are 4 color combination of a 4x2 Rectangular patch design that includes XJ style wheels and the Yamaha Fork circle.

    [IMG] [IMG]

Most may not like the white background patch, but I already have two white patches that that one would look real nice next to.

EDIT: Added white patch with black/orange version for fun. It actually looks VERY nice for a white patch. I think I like it better than the white/black/red one I was leaning towards.

I just took off the airbox and edited out the frame.

I could probably edit in KN cone air pod and just leave it plain for stock people. ;)

Yeah I"m strongly leaning towards a white back ground with blue and orange swirls.

Re: xjbikes.com site logo ??'s & (cheap) Patch Ideas

Here is a tweaked version with the airbox removed and a better/thicker black outer glow around the engine.

If I ordered that exact patch, I might order it with a white border to better match my near by patches.

I was just joking about the pods, haha. I would rock a patch with or without, just so long as it represents the xj bikes. I am surrounded by harley guys, feel like Rodney Dangerfield, "Can't get no respect"

Re: xjbikes.com site logo ??'s & (cheap) Patch Ideas

I can do that in a few minutes - No room for the wheels or Yamaha forks though, unless you prefer the Forks over the engine...
    [IMG] [IMG]

I "feel your pain". I'm in ILL not so far from HD land. 99.5% Harleys here and at any events I go to. Check out a few of my patches. (The 911 is not sewed down yet, I just got it today and the XJ patch is just a paper print out).

Nice work, now how about if you reduce the size of the fork and put it on the side case? Will it fit?

You mean the round cover w/o any text? I don't know how visible it would be once printed... Keep in mind the patch is only 2" Tall (or 3" for other versions).

Are the forks in COM to much?

Forks look good in there, the .com fill it up a bit much, but that's just me.
Do like the oval in the middle a lot though.

Ya I like the middle one as well. I really like the "why yes" patch on your vest. LOL. I need one of those, too.

I think the .com looks ok. Lets people know where to go. Engine looks good, too.

Re: xjbikes.com site logo ??'s & (cheap) Patch Ideas

I must admit the 4x3 oval with the larger engine is the best looking one yet (other than the similar earlier 4x2 ones with out any engine/forks).

eBay Seller jfrlifestylescom has both a Black or White background WHY YES...Yamaha patches --- I already had a white and grabbed a black for my jacket/future use

If someone finds a shop what will print SMALL batches for cheap, let us know.

Did you mean a small oval with our with our an engine? The earlier small ovals would look good scaled down for a helmet.

NOTE: I'll post a 4x2 oval w/o engine using White background and blue/orange swirls later. Maybe a nice small circle as well. Those would be better for small stickers.

Re: xjbikes.com site logo ??'s & (cheap) Patch Ideas

I'd like to order my custom patch SOON. I have not made a final shape/size decision yet. I prefer the LOOK of the oval, but a rectangle will fit/look better where I want to put it.

Below are 3 versions of my nearly final design (for personal non-profit use at this time). They are basically the same with different sizes/shapes. All are white, white thread border, orange & blue swirls, large engine with forks on cover and swirl wheel in COM. [Fork could easily be substituted for wheel in COM].

    A. 4x3 Oval
    B. 3.5x2 Oval
    C. 4x3 Rectangle with my personal ride info

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

If I was to order one of THESE next week, anyone have any design tips/tweaks I should consider?

If someone found a cheap decal / print company these could easily be sized/shaped for that use as well as made with a black background.

If anyone wants the website that will make ONE patch for a low as $9 + shipping let me know. Also I did all this in Illustrator so I can make minor tweaks with little effort (i.e. colors, models, etc).

P.S. I'm gonna make a 4th one inside the rectangle but a thin oval border around the swirls. (Everything inside it will need to be scaled down a little).

There is a products section under the main site menu. CafeePress is a printing site that will put your design on a whole host of items. You could either get in contact with the site admin and see if you can put your logo on the site or start your own CafeePress site. 3" X 5" decal will be $3.50.

Re: xjbikes.com site logo ??'s & (cheap) Patch Ideas

I had looked extensively into getting lapel pins made, but got away from it (then distracted by other stuff and didn't get back to it) when the lowest cost that I was able to find was going to cost me about $700 up front to get a batch of the pins made and in my hands. I can't shell that out, and couldn't see that I'd even be able to sell that many pins just to make the money back.

Hopefully someone else has better luck on putting something together.

Also, I'd highly suggest that if you are going to have xj4ever on the design, you REALLY need to contact Len Chacal and make sure that you have his permission to do so. Otherwise, you set yourself up for major lawsuit issues.

    Real Product and Vendor Review

    Company: Colorpatch . com

What: I purchased a custom DYE PRINTED patched based on the design I submitted

Price: Considering you can order ONE patch if desired, I'd consider it to be great!

Print Quality: Compared to my 300dpi print out on plain paper, the printed patch material looks great. Some detail was lost (as expected) but overall it looks like I expected. NOTE: I did include VERY small details/design elements.

Communication: Excellent - Prior to producing the actual product, they send you a "proof" picture on their patch template. [I changed my outline color after seeing it with a black border 8) ]

NOTE: My patch was for personal use. I needed/wanted a specifically sized/colored patch to fit my vest/tastes. I did not create it for profit or others. No offense was meant towards XJbikes or XJforever (Len).

That being said... Here are some real life pictures of the product. [The patch was not attached yet in the vest picture].

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

    "Design" that was submitted:

FYI: Being an Anal OCD Perfectionist, their are only very minor things I'd change. Black text would be un-bolded and I'd move the .com a little further away from the muffler edge.
