Do you live somewhere where the nights are getting cooler and cooler while still having nice warm days?

GET AFTER THOSE TIRE PRESSURES!!! And stay on top of them until you put the bike away for the winter. The temperature swings are hard on tire pressures.

I checked mine the other day, after oh, maybe three or four days since I'd checked previous. We've been seeing 40s at night, with daytime highs in the 60s and 70s.

    FOUR DAYS/NIGHTS.

My front was down by SEVEN pounds, the rear down by four. That soft in the front is enough to cause some wonky handling.

Check 'em every other day, or before every ride if it's been more than a couple of days.

    Ride safe--- Fitz

Ahhh here in the south, this is the time of year when the days are perfect. 60 at night, 70 during the day. But still enough of a change in weather to warrant differences in tire pressure.

And to add for the sake of others, it's important to check the levels before you ride not only because you don't want to leave the abode with a critically low tire, but that's when the tire is cool. You want to make sure your air levels are nominal when the tire is cool, because the air is going to heat up and expand as you start riding. Just FYI. So don't check mid ride and be fooled that there's "too much air in the tire". It's meant to handle a certain amount of pressure if you properly fill it cold.

The leaves turning colors, going to pumpkin patches, cool nights...this is my favorite time of year.

Frost on the pumpkin? What about the chain drive guys here?

Here in Colorado there are a number of tire places that will fill your tires with pure Nitrogen. Supposedly it maintains consistent pressure throughout the temperature swings typically seen here. Haven't tried it yet, but I think I will.

Only bad thing about using nitrogen is that the tire place isn't open at 11pm if you need to have 5 pounds added. But yes, nitrogen does stay more consistent than compressed air.

In my opinion it's worth the $2 a tire they charge.

It amazes me how much tire pressure will change in motorcycle tires. Temperature swings definitely make a difference, but I check my tires before any significant ride, and often have to add air. My bikes live in a garage, but still am amazed at the fluctuations.

correct tire pressure is pretty crucial in the wet.

That's still a 30+ degree temp swing. Check your tires.
