I modified my 85 xj700 and put 2 wire bullet turn sigs. They only come on when I need to make a turn. Do they suppose to stay on and how do I make that happen

two wires as in + and -?

Then they come on and flash when they're switched on as turn signals and are working properly.

If you want them on as running lights and to flash as turn signals it's possible but more complicated.

you need a trailer light controller. I have one. I can get a pic of it this evening.

It's a little box that allows lights to flash and be powered on. I have bullet lights that are rear markers, brake and turn. The markers run all the time on the dim filament, the turn/brake share the bright filament. The trailer light controller makes it work.

Typically two wire lights don't have dual filament bulbs. 3 wire lights are for marker/signal duty.

Right. But with the trailer controller you can use them as marker lights and turn signals. Or brake and turn signals.

    I have 3 wire lights.

Right but the OP has two wire lights meaning no dim AND bright filament just a single filament that is either lot or not.

With this and a two wire light you can get a two wire to be lit as a runner and then flash as a blinker.

Or light as a brake and flash one side as a blinker.

They are readily available online for about $10.

    one quick unrelated question...

Just out of curiosity where did you get that cool fuse box setup? I need a better way to finish those off so their not just loosely sitting on my airbox lid!

    Thanks!

The 85-86 Max originally has 3 wire signals in the front. 1 for ground, 1 for turn and 1 for running light. So you either get the 3 wire signals for the front or do without the running light. However, omitting the running light requires a mod to the wiring because the rear turn signals will stay on without the mod.
