My first post here....I'm really excited!

I just took the carbs off of my 86 xj700 s, cleaned them, rebuilt them, but I'm not real sure what I'm supposed to do with two 3-way fittings between the 1 & 2 and the 3&4 carbs.

The PO removed and discarded the original airbox, and I can't tell from the service manual what I am supposed to do with these two exposed openings.

Here is a picture of what I'm talking about:

Any help is greatly appreciated. This is my first bike, and the two PO where anything but nice to it. This forum has taught me a LOT!

    Thanks!

Attach some hose to them and run the hose down between the airbox and engine ... venting them in the area of the center stand.

    Thanks Ric!

That's kind of what I was thinking, but wasn't sure. Do they need any kind of filter on them?

    YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST!

so theres no filter or filters at all. you will need a filter. u can buy pod filters for each carb but u have to rejet ur carbs. but looks alot better. or u will have to buy a shock airbox which the air filter sits in.

    Boots-

Yeah, the stock airbox is totally gone. There were/are pods on the carbs now, and it was rejetted, so that part is covered. Just more concerned with if there should be a filter on the ends of the vent hoses that I will have to run down to the bottom of the frame.

I guess those 't' fittings are just venting excess pressure or something? Not really sure.
