OMG you arn't kidding theese pipes are loud. Almost too loud at times :)
I have seen people jump wile walking down the side of the road when I pass them. Subtle at idel, lots of compression makes it sound mean. But man oh man when you lay into it, you would'nt think its the same bike.
Watch the video in my Signiture and you will see what I mean, as long as you have speakers on you're PC :)

Nice bike! What do you think of the grips on your bike? They look great.
I'm in the market for new ones.

I love them, I'm using a cruise controlle lip on my throttle grip and its even better as far as comfort. But i need to cut down my bars about an inch on each side. More of a prefrence but they are too long for me sometimes. I like the Cafe Racer look, but them again the Maxim wasn't intended to be a Cafe Racer so the long drag bars are a good meadian for me. It's a looker for sure, but the motor needs a little work right now.

Thanks for the props, they make me smile :)

Yeh, the bars look a little long, but they do look good. Nice ride.

DM - thanks for the info. I think that's the look I wanted for my bike.

Ok here is todays update. I had planned on doing a compression test but I didn't have a battery charger to keep my battery jucy. So wile waiting on my dad to stop by I tore into her a little and here are the results.

Here is my garage. No power at all.

I pulled the tank along with a few other items and broke out the paint.
I painted quite a few things and one thing I don't have a Pic of is the frame peice around the front reflectors, I painted them from dull chrome to black. The tank/rear beg brackets/the mounting system for the reflectors and the rear box with a key lock to gain acces to pull the seat.

I can't remember who it was saying this, but that blue tape is killer for any type of painting. No sticky stuff left behind, and no paint getting under the tape.

I'm thinking of doing something very similar with my maxim. Did you recover your seat? That's something that I have to do, but I'm thinking of doing something a little different. BUt I'm just not sure how to go about it. I'd like a seat without the step up, but I don't want to get rid of the back box, and that steel support that goes over the box.

    HI Dimorey,

Cool bike - whose pipes are those? Still available?

    Any baffles in them?

    Thanx,

    PY

I am looking to replace the pipes on my 85' XJ700 and really like what you have on yours. I'm not very mechanical so what kind of pipes are those and where might i get some? Also what all is involved in installing them, is there any rejetting or what? Any help is greatly appreciated I just think my bike is way to quiet
