I've been thinking about creating a new XJBikes.com logo for the site. Let's hear & see your logo ideas.

hrm - I'm game for some photoshop fun...

This of course means we need more source pictures ;) Can we have a gallery drive?

I'm thinking of a profile shot of a maxim - thrown to two colour and cleaned up - with a smoother xjbikes.com font (keeping the same font style though I like the edges)

    Cheers,
    woot.

Do you have any idea what size you want the image? proportions?

I assume it is to fill the top left corner of the title bar.

I know that most of the riders are Maxim ones, but don't single out the Seca riders. I'm not so proficient in Photoshop, so I can't talk. Just a suggestion of having the logo be more global.

I think we can do it - facing each other would work...

which means we need two good quality images to work from - simular lighting would be a bonus... same angle - 90 degree to body. Bikes don't have to be clean as that can be fixed. :)

let me get some work done and I'll have a crack at it too.

Right now I'm looking for ideas and some rough prototypes. I don't want to spend lots of time on something that will be ruled out. Written ideas are a great start and others can put it into graphics. Basically I want to brainstorm and compile a list then we’ll narrow it down…

I'm looking for a site logo including a picture (or maybe just a bike sketch?) but I also want a font XJBikes.com on there so it promotes the site. If needed just grab a picture from the gallery for the prototyping.

I'm thinking it would be nice to have a logo that can be applied to various products, not just for the site. For example, if in the near future we have a calendar, baseball caps or other products it would be nice to use the recognizable site logo... Currently I'm contemplating on fabricating a kick stand coaster. So, it would be cool to have the same logo engraved on it or something.

Seca, Maxim and plain XJ dilemma – hmmm, what about both bikes facing each other, raised front wheels so it kind of looks like 2 broncos standing on the hind legs? Just a though... no idea how this would look.

I've made a cut out of a maxim in photoshop - where should I put it for people if they want a large psd source image?

Hmmm. I'm a big fan of simplicity in logos. How about taking the Seca and Maxim facing each other idea, but just use silhouettes?

I completely agree with having both bikes... it's just a matter of time to cut the next one out...

Harley Davidson doesn't have bikes in their logo. They have just wording inside a badge/shield outline or something. OCC has their own unique logo, Honda has the 'wing', Chevy has the bowtie etc etc. What I'm getting at, 'Don't narrow it down to XJ pic"...

But again I do like the silhouette idea as well . Does it need background of a moutain or globe or something???

Well - I was thinking about it some more too...

I like the silohette - but make it much more of a background feature. The trouble is trying to get both bikes into the logo ( if we use one at all it seems we have to use both ;))

So - 'XJ bikes' in the foreground... something bike-ish in the background... I like the globe idea as it shows a bit of the international flavour we have.

    hrm... thinking aloud. woot.

I wonder if we can get an X in word art from the front tires of two bikes? :p :D

Not sure where you going with this :?.

Keep in mind that XJ were made throughout various decades. Maybe instead we can utilze the engine and the 4 pipe exhaust outlines in some way? I'm thinking something common from all XJs...

Ok, I dreamed up a logo that I’ll try to put into words. XJ 4-1 exhaust will be used for the base of my design. Envision our 4 pipe exhaust on the left as the pipe wraps down and to the right. Above the pipe you see XJBikes.com written across.

Now, here is a twist, instead of using our actual exhaust, picture having a 4 fingered claw with chrome finger nails and the forearm bone. Again the XJBikes is written within the claw (maybe it should also be in chrome?). I guess we could try this in chrome and in black or something. Can anyone mock up the chrome ‘claw’? I’m not much of an artist. I'll google to see if I can find a good 'claw' 8O

No claws, no chrome and no clean up - is this along the lines of what you were thinking? Still looking for good source 4-2-collector-2 pipes off of the bike from at profile angle.
