I just recently purchased a 86 XJ700. I went and replaced the plugs and wires and gave her an oil change. Fired her up and took her for a ride and decided I would stop in my local Wal-Mart and grab a couple of small items I needed, but after hoping off the bike and actually being able to smell things around me, I noticed that I smelled like If I was trapped in a New York tunnel during morning rush hour. I mean the exhaust smell on me smelled so bad it was giving me headaches. Is this normal? If not what can I do so that I know that I can be able to hop off the bike and go into stores without smelling like I just got done spraying exhaust fumes on me like if it was cologne

Did you get oil on your pipes when you did your oil change? Are you sure it is coming from the pipes?

How long was it sitting before you rode it?

What does an NY tunnel smell like?

Were you wearing the oil stained clothes you were wearing to change the oil? Another thought, is there any oil leaking out of the final drive? Final drive oil can really stink if it gets hot (stinks cold too).
