    Hello,
I recently brought my bike out from hibernation and I had a safety inspection done at the local dealer. I am obviously new to motorcycle mechanics, so I felt it would be best for a trained mechanic to do this safety point check. It went well, not too much on the red list besides my horns barely working and some lube that needs to be put on my clutch cable. They made mention that they noticed my "intake boots" beginning to crack. They said they weren't completely cracked, but something to keep my eye on.

I went to the yamaha site to look up the part # and to find out exactly where these "intake boots" are. I cannot find it on that interactive parts cataloge. I have a '82 Seca XJ750RJ.

Can anyone explain to me what is the real part # and official name for what they mean by "intake boots". Is this an expensive task? How much for parts? etc...

    Thank you for your help.

they are reffering to your carb boots, and while i'm not sure of the part number, you can repair them, which is not sucha bad idea as a new set runs something close to 80 bucks i believe.

Look at the thread titled "how to repair cracked car boots" on this forum should only be a few topics down.
