anyone run faster than 139mph on a 550? mods include port polish, polished valves, milled down valve guides, decked cylinders .060(12-1 compression),custom copper headgaskets, rejetted carbs, knifeblade crank, upped the front sprocket one and decreased the back 5, converted rear sprocket to 1979 yamaha 350 4 lug 428 chain sprocket(40 tooth) 82 seca550 cams(bigger intake lobe), machined toyota 22re valve springs to fit(increased spring pressure by 100 lbs) recently added oil cooler and 1985 4 into 1 xj exhaust after picture was taken, looking at welding a 4 into 2 into 1 exhaust. 14,000 rpm redline. going to bonniville next year. cant wait. cant for the life of me find pistons....if you know where to get some let me know, dont really want to cast my own. :?:

Are you doing all of this off of the speedo on your bike? I would recommend verifying your speed via GPS. Speedos on bike's are rediculously inaccurate espesially high higher speeds. Your 139 on a speedo is most likely far less then that.BUT If you verified with a more accurate system... HOLY CRAP 139 on a 550! Sweet jesus man, I bet that is a fun toy right there. Wonder what kind of Hp your putting out with that set up? Way to go on the mods either way I bet she sounds good.

139 was recorded via lazer at bonniville about a month ago. my speedo gets happy around 75 and only goes to 80 so i only use it in town. i am still running the 130 rear tire and the salt was very wet. probably too wet to do a run. before next year im giong to switch to a 90 series 19" rear to get a little more. hopefully 140mph. you never know on the salt.

its ok, definately not a crotch rocket in town. its major powerband is between 7500 to 11000, if i rap it up to 14000 it drops in at 7000 when i shift so it works allright. i was racing my buddies new gsxr 600 and i could keep up if we were allready doing 20+mph but from a dead stop he would waste me.
