Title: XJ750 touring package
Description: Headlight glass lens...........

When I answered the ad for the 82 XJ750, I had no idea the bike had the compete touring package: front fairing, two removable side carrying cases and one large case with backrest that can hold a helmet. Unfortunately, the glass headlight lens insterted into the front fairing was only held there by an unglued rubber gasket.
Of course it fell out and shattered into a gazillion pieces and I am looking for another one. This is probably a fool's errand as I have yet to even find another XJ750 with this package but am still looking.
Any help would be appreciated.

Good luck man,
I have an 83 with the tour fairing, and am also missing the lens, and my dash plate that holds my radio is cracked. I have been able to find no parts for the fairing, and as Yamaha doesn't even recognize the existence of it, it may be difficult. I have tried to tell yamaha that their name is stamped in my fairing all over the place and it takes a yamaha key but they said it doesn't exist. So I guess my fairing is in my imagination

you guys might want to try contacting vetter ,it seems they made fairings that ended up on quite a few bikes. Just a thought.

I have searched all through Vetters stuff and haven't been able to find anything that looks like my fairing. I have heard possibly Pacifico made it. I do know that it has a Yamaha Made in Japan sticker on it

Thanks guys for answering. I know the feeling of having a nonexistant XJ750J configration only after I had purchased the bike. Plenty of info, new, and used parts are available for the bike but the touring package is unknown. The former owner had lost the keys for the intricate locks. One lock attaches each of the three bags, one each side and one on top, and another key opens the bags. Very good design as it is impossible to lock a key inside a bag. Mine as good as new including new steering bearings. I am considering have a local plastic shop form a lucite cover but haven't gotten a quote. This package is 100 better than that Vetter junk that was so popular long ago.

I couldn't even get a windshield to fit mine, I finally had one fabricated and it ran me about $60 US. If you get the lens replaced let me know what it runs so I can think about putting one back on mine. I have been running since OCT. without one.

You can easily make your own new windshield for about $10.00 since they tend to yellow if parked in the sun a lot. Find a sheet plastics place and get some clear one quarter inch thickness LEXAN or other brand name polycarbonate larger than your windshield.
Take the old windshield off by first removing the molded plastic behind it that is attached by six screws. Then remove the two bolts that are hidden under two rubber plugs and go through the support bar in the back and slide the wiindshield up and off. The LEXAN comes with proective plactic on both sides. Flatten the old windsield on the new LEXAN and trace the outline and the location of the bolt holes. Put a fine toothed blade in your reciprocating electric jigsaw and cut on the outline and then drill out the bolt holes.
Peel the plastic off and smooth the edges with some fine grain emery cloth and put it back on the bike. I will let you know how the headlight cover project develops.
