Title: My bike left me stranded

Fropa - June 1, 2005 05:35 AM (GMT)
I finally rode the bike to work for the first time today. Everybody had to come out and look at it and tell me what a great deal I got on it. Well, I went out to start it at 11:30 tonight and it was completely dead. No lights and completely dead when I pushed the starter button. I tried it with the stand up and down and in first and neutral but nothing worked. All the fuses looked good so I'm stumped. Not the impression I wanted to make, having the bike sitting dead in the parking lot when everybody gets to work in the morning.

First place to look is the fuse block.
If the bike still has the original block it is a know problem part..
It is not the fuses but the actual block that is the problem.

Bummer deal! Sorry to hear that.

But it does take time get the cobwebs outta old bikes, so do not feel bad.
It just really sucks when it happens during an important ride.

Did it turn out to be the battery, or what? B)

It was the battery. After looking through the paperwork I got with the bike, it looks like the battery was 7 years old. From what I've been told thats well past it's prime. With the new battery I still have less than $500 invested in the bike so I'm pretty happy, plus I chalk it all up to learning experiences.
