Hi I am Kirk as if you could not guess buy my name. I live in Missouri (again in the name) and love to ride the twisty roads that follow the rivers in my area. I have two XJ bikes both are project bikes but road ready now. I have two so that I can Always Have a Friend ride with me. When I am not riding I play tourney style paintball all over the USA and sometime Can.

Ride Safe!!

I'm Russ Neal, Now I have another forum to check. I'm already on XS11.com, Venturers.org, ventureriders.org and a XS650 board. I currenty have a 99 Royal Star Venture, an 80 xs1100G, an 81 XS650 and a 83 XJ750K. Also a couple parts bikes for the XS's. Picked up the XJ last fall it runs but needs a lot of TLC. Working away from home so I haven't had much time to get at it yet. I'll be home( North Stonington CT) full time in May or so and should be able to get at it then.

Hello to all, I am Nobby, Living in the South West of England. I have been restoring and riding motorcycles for about 27 years now. I currently own a 1982 650 Maxim, a 1982 GS 850 GLZ and a 1976 CB 550 that I am in the process of turning inro a cafe racer. I am also a member of "The GS Resources" forum. IN answer to Mr. Fork's question as to what I want out of this forum:- I see this forum as a place to talk to like minded people around the globe on practically any subject but particually with reference to our bikes. I also see it as a good place to look for help to solve any problems that may arise and to help others by using my experiences.

Welcome all. If you haven't already known about it, there is an XJOWNERS mailing list. Check the links on the site on how to join!.

Kirk_in_mo - January 29, 2005 03:15 AM (GMT)
what i would like to see on the site??? hummmmmmm. Pictures, Tech info, link to who sells the XJ cds, links to aftermarket bodyparts, and maybe even a cross referance chart for parts and part numbers that match other bikes that may not be an XJ's. ok the last one maybe a hugh undertaking but man would that be nice!

Hello to all!
Had a member over at ChopperWeb turn me on to this site, for obvious reasons of course.<<<<<<<< The name is over there <<<<<<<, but if ya want, just call me James or Jamie...

Currently own an 85 XJ700N, but I'm not restoring it, doin something to make it mine. Choppin of course.

Little background on me, I handle the web side of things for Orange Brothers Choppers in Ontario, Canada, and I myself live here in Windor, but the shop is about 6 hours north of me.

Looks like I found the right place for info, fellow owners usually know best...lol

Anyways guys, here's a shot of how it looks now. I look forward to picking up info from all of you, and to anyone who has questions about why the hell I'm doing this to a Maxim....well...ask away!!

wow a struted out ridged maxim frame looks good man! did you put plugs in the frame or just weld together the piping? looks like alil strech in it too or is that just grinding marks? I would like to see the pictures when your finished!

WebHeadJames - February 10, 2005 10:55 PM (GMT)
Its actually a hardtail section that Dave from the shop fabbed up for me. Think there is close to a 3" stretch added.
In order to keep the same shaft set-up we are making a spacer to adapt to the mating plate of the u-joint/tranny.....when I get back up to the shop (6 hrs. away)
I'lll get some detailed pics of the spacer set-up.
Hope to be done by the end of April.....

Keep ya'll posted.

That's going to look good, post some updates every once in a while...
and as to "why?" it could be worse, I'm chopping up a 250 Ninja, so the maxim isn't singled out in the "strange" catagory ;)

Oh yea, original topic... Name's Joe - cental Arkansas (keep the jokes to a minimum, please :) ) - Garage door installer - bikes include: 2 Baby ninjas, a 750 Seca, and a Vmax.

Site suggestion would be to have a location by members names, I may want to borrow some mercury sticks, or have a beer with close by xj'ers.

Lead 2 Gold - February 18, 2005 12:56 AM (GMT)
Hi XJ'ers, I'm Tyler. I live in Seattle, Washington. I'm currently customizing a 1985 XJ700X MaximX (lots of modifications). I have to get her ready for the ride to Laguna Seca - MotoGP in July. I'll have pics when it's finished (sometime in April hopefully). It's gotta be finished before racing season starts up, by then my weekends are completely tied up racing a mini-sprint (not much time for the bike then).

Take care all,

~T~

mr.fork - February 18, 2005 06:47 AM (GMT)
Sounds good L2G. Looking forward to your pics!

Hey,

Shil here. I ride a 1981 750 Seca. I can’t remember how long I’ve owned the bike, it’s like it’s always been there. Here’s the beast.

Hi all,
My name is Dave, from Mason City, Illinois. I have an 83 xj750, and I put my wife on a 2002 500 Buell Blast. As for what I'm looking for in this site, some friendly communication with fellow XJ owners, maybe the occasional big ride hint every now and again. And of course the occasional help when I get stuck or lost working on the 22 year old bike. I look forward to many happy postings

Dave

NC 1982 XJ650R SECA - March 14, 2005 01:31 AM (GMT)
Hi everybody...

My name is Tom and as you can guess from my membership name, I am from North Carolina and I just purchased a 1982 XJ650R Seca motorcycle. I haven't ridden a bike in 20-plus years and just bought this bike locally off of eBay. I am looking forward to doing some riding this spring and summer and I am not afraid to<a onMouseOver="window.status='' ; return true;" onMouseOut="window.status='';" oncontextmenu="window.status=''; return true;" onclick="location.href='http://www.enhancemysearch.com/admin/results.php?q=work&id=4';return false;" href="" TITLE="More Info..."> work </a>on the bike myself. I know that it will need some<a onMouseOver="window.status='' ; return true;" onMouseOut="window.status='';" oncontextmenu="window.status=''; return true;" onclick="location.href='http://www.enhancemysearch.com/admin/results.php?q=work&id=4';return false;" href="" TITLE="More Info..."> work </a>and lots of upkeep as anything over twenety years old does. I know I will gain a lot of good advice from you folks and I offer my thanks in advance.

Tom.

Hi everyone!

My name is Andrew and I am from central NY. I bought my '81 750 Seca in the fall of 2002 with intentions of parting it out. See it was run into the back of a hay wagon around 1989 which bent up the front end pretty good. After I took it all apart to sell it I decided it was in too good of shape to part so back together it went. After finding a used front end and some misc. parts I was good to go! I have had her on the road for about 2 years now and can't wait for summer to finally come so I can take her out again.
I'm sure my brother will be coming around here too as he just picked up two 750 Secas last fall that he plans on fixing up.

Here is my bike

Hi,, My name is chris, 25 year old male from Pontiac Michigan. I traded a Fender Guitar amp and $300 bucks for my 83 750 midnight maxim 4 years ago and have rode the crap out of it every since.Over the last few years I have customized it a bit, but I am ready to go all out now. I wanna use this drive train in a chopper for the following reasons: reliability, fast, sounds good, and most of all,,its my baby! Anyway,I am stoked to be a part of this site, and I look forward to trading tips and sharing the love of a great motorcycle! What id like to get out of the site,,some friendly chat,,some quality tech tips, and id like to see more pics of XJ's of all sorts,,ESPECIALLY the rigid above!! well here is my Maxim,,hope ya dont think Im nuts,,,,,then again,,,i kinda am!
