Title: Type of Gas

sib5033 - June 18, 2005 03:24 AM (GMT)
I was just wondering what type of gas everyone runs. I just bought a 1981 xj seca 750. I was wondering if there is a minium octane requirement or can you run any kind of gas? Thanks

I always run Premium if I can get it at the pump. I did fill up with regular on my last cross country trip but it was all this little station had, and I had to wake up the owner and have him open the station to pump that. It was either that or walk.... not an option.

When you are filling up for 2-1/2 gallons the cost difference is minimal.

I put the besi in i can afford i have an 85 maxim xj700 that loves 93 octane and it's not like your paying to put it in your 4 wheel vehicle.

I tried running the normal 87 as it burns hotter.

I have been running the premium now again as it runs better off it.

I hate to say it, but mine seems to run better on the 87 octane.I need to have my carbs sync but when I run 93 octane, it tends to hunt more than usual.

The manual for my xj650 calls for 91 octane. I use 93.
