K. Here is mine. I call her Red Hot. Like the candy.

Do not know of any other pics on this site, there is bound to be some.

If you just want to see pics of any Maxim/Seca, do an "XJ" search under Motorcycles at Ebay.

Everyday I see more than a few with that search on Ebay. The problem is that they are always up north out of reach. There are never any for sale on Ebay close to Dallas, TX. Oh well. Guess I got lucky enough to find my Maxim here in Dallas that I own now.

Once, a lady was giving away a Maxim in New York. I never wanted to be a Yankie more at that time. B)

My Seca

Just put your pics on Putfile or Photobucket and use the tags available to you when composing a message to point to them. Use the quote function for this message to see how I did it.

Note the barbecue engine paint. Horns are upgraded to Fiamm El Grande's (with appropriate amounts of black paint). Seat has been recovered by my roomate, and is a great job considering it's her first attempt at a bike seat. Windshield needs replacing ($$$$), new clutch is on the way. Needs attending to the camchain, as there is some rattling at 3000rpm, but nowhere else. Uses almost no oil, as in, I never needed to add a drop between changes. Styling is, shall we say, Battlestar Galactica meets BMW K100. Not my cup of tea, but ugly is as ugly does. It has great wind protection, but is susceptible to side gusts, in that it likes to weave a bit. Feels very fast once boost is up, but unremarkable at lower rpms. I miss the torque of my old Seca 900, although this probably has the same top end whack. I'll be throwing some money at it next year, as it is runs too well to get rid of. Maybe an R6 brake upgrade and new windscreen. It's not a bike you see very often! Picked it up for $500, just turned 80000km.

That picture is just north of the PA border in NY. That was in 2002 IRC, note the fuel prices...

Cheers,

\\ All gear, all the time. Besides over 95F it is actually COOLER with gear on. If you want the science I'll explain.

Well, yeah, that's much better, :D , I kept getting an error about dynamic pages using Putfile, so I did it the hard way. Nice Maxim btw.

One more note - those are the Seca flat bars instead of the Maxim's buckhorn.

I find they really make it easier to get the maxim moving... get a different hand position which is more condusive to counter steering - instead of pushing your fist sideways and forward this you can just push your palm forward. Now you'll notice alot more of the suspension problems with the old parts when you start pushing it but it really is rewarding to have a good ride and mellow the wallow out of the old girl.

Cheers,
woot.

<--Used to ride ninjas... I know what the front end is supposed to feel like. I really enjoy the maxim though as it is more challenging and as a result more rewarding. Riding a twisty road at 40-50mph on the maxim is the same difficulty as riding it at 70-90mph on the ninja and costs way way less in tickets. Plus at 40mph you have a pretty good chance of survival. Things don't happen as fast, and you get the time you need to save your bacon. Plus at that speed you don't overdrive your vision as easily. Things to consider when you look for a new bike. :)

OK WOOT,

PLEASE TELL ME THE SCIENCE OF STAYING COOLER WHILE DAWNING MORE ATTIRE. I GREW OUT OF MY LEATHER JACKET 15 YEARS AGO, AND SURE CAN NOT AFFORD ANOTHER ONE.

AFTER THAT, PLEASE TELL ME WHAT A WOOT IS. B)

Neat 1100. Theres one for sale near me for $1300. As quick as the Turbo is, I'd like a nice tourqey 1100 again.

Well ok.

Below 95 the air tempature is cooler than your body. No matter how much air passes your body it will have a cooling effect.

Now there are a few ways you can get cool - one is to be surrounded by cool air, the other is to sweat and the evaporating water absorbs some of your body heat.

Above 95 the air won't cool you, so you have to reply on sweat alone to cool you down.

If you allow too much air to pass your body the sweat evaporates but it absorbs some heat from you and some from the air. The main problem is that you absorb more heat from the air (when too much air passes your body) than you release to the evaporating sweat. This means you sweat very heavily, and need to take on ALOT of water to keep from getting dehydrated. At the same time you aren't getting any cooler.

If you limit the air flow around your body you can let enough air past your skin for the water vapour to get away - but not enough air to get past as to warm you up and steal the cooling effect from the evaporating water.

Long story short - limit airflow around your body above 95.

A woot? Part of my last name... also more recently has become the sound made by players jumping in shooter style games. It was my name first though.
