Title: Running Lights
Description: Inexpensive Solution

I know there has to many of you riders out there who want to be more visible. I wanted to change my turn signals over to running lights, so I searched the web and came up with a variety of solutions.

Electronic mudules - $39 - $99

Relays - $12 - $40

Used HD 1157 bulb sockets - $4

Guess which solution I chose? I did so for two reasons. Some of the mods put too much juice to the bulb and melt your lens. The 1157 solution is the right choice, but you will have to modify the 1157 sockets slightly and solder tabs on them to accomodate the ground wire. It took me two hours to make the changes to both the front and rear. I then had to paint the rear lenses with two coats of Testors Transparent Candy Red spray paint and a single clear coat.

Next I want to mod the side reflectors to have LED's beneath them to give me more side visibility.

Also looking for an idea to put LED brake lights on a license plate frame. Signal Dynamics does a bang up job in this area, but at present doesn't sell the Ohio license plate size.

I wanted to add another note. I figured out how to add hidden side marker lights on the front. The two reflectors behind the front forks are kind of translucent, being that they have a white back on them. I tested this by shining a flashlight through them at night. Very nice. I cut out the inside of the black plastic support in preparation for installing an amber LED module.
