Title: '82 XJ 750
Description: right side panel (battery cover)

I finally got my bike up and running (new intake manifold required) and took it for a highway spin yesterday. The right side panel is catching air to a point I thought it might blow off.
Any ideas as to how to fabricate a pin(upper right inside of panel) to hold it on?

I am missing the front tab too. To keep it tight against the bike I drilled a little hole in the mount were the tab should be then hooked a little bungy cord to it and feed the cord through the bike and hooked it to the seat hinge. I have not had any problems since. I will try to post some pics. for ya.

Thanks for the pics, I will take a look tonight. I was thinking of adhering a replacement post to the panel. The post I was going to use is a wall anchor for screws with a ribbed edge. I was thinking the ribbed edge may be enough to hold the panel in place or stop the wind from getting under the panel when riding.

Yeah i tried to glue the tab back on and that didn't hold very long, then I tried to melt a screw in there to hold it, that didn't work either. This is holding good now so come spring I will probably try something else. Keep use posted on what works and what doesn't. As I am sure you have already found out it is a common problem with the Seca.

you gotta put a leash on that puppy. Fishing tackle shop, coated wire, crimps. Loop on the side cover, drill a small hole on the side of the cover, just big enough for the wire, other end a loop on the frame. You'll never lose it.

I did end up putting a leash on the panel to keep it in place. A piece of cord tied through a hole drilled into the inside of the panle and around the seat.
I was able to reglue the post on the other panel. I doubt that it will last, but for now all is in great shape!
