Wobble can come from a few different places.
It might be the result of uneven tire wear. This happens on the front as it gets older, and can be exagerated by rotor warp, worn bearings, bent forks, and worn fork or under oiled forks - just to name a few.
How many miles are on your front tire? If it is almost new then look for something to have caused the uneven wear prematurely. If it is old, then it is just doing what a motorcycle tire does on the front end.
At this point I'll make reference to Tony Mills - he knows infinitely more about this than I do... so if you follow this link you'll find more info than I can impart in years of rambling.
http://forums.ninja250.org/viewtopic.php?t=35180&highlight=As for your question on best tire. :D You've not been around internet motorcycle forumns long have you? ;) From what I can tell there are three types of people out there when it comes to tires. People like yourself looking for honest advice, people like myself who flog a particular type of tire, and people who know what they're talking about and will ask you what you want from the tire.
If you were a track person - you'd flip the bucks and get a really nice grippy tire. A few thousand street miles will see it shredded to an unusable state.
If you were an endero person you might slip on a pair of metzlers (from what I've heard they last well and have good wet weather properties).
If you were like me you might really enjoy the GT501 which has plenty of grip for me, behaves well in the rain, and my last rear tire got just about 10,000 miles. On top of that I like the geometry of the rear tire for the bike -- enough room to get max lean, but not too steep to make the contact patch any smaller than it needs to be. The front tire is also a gt501, and it has just over 10,000 miles on it - it is starting to show uneven wear and a bit of brake shudder - I'll probably replace it next spring - no point in putting it on now just to sit through the winter. (The rear tire needed changing as I was over 1000 miles from home and it had started to seperate. A very novice mistake... I did stop and make one good decision - ordered a tire and got it put on on my way back through MA)
I ride an XJ650 - so you milage may vary. :)
Please bring more info back and we'll all see what we can offer based on that.
Cheers,
woot.
Also - feel free to add your feedback to my previous attempt at a tire discussion.
