Hi
Think I have bitten off a bit more than I can chew. I bought an 85' xj700 a little while ago, the general condition of the bike is pretty good but there are a few things that need replacing. It has a 4 into 1 exhaust (posted on that already) which has to go, I'll probably go for the 4 into 2 system. Front brake pads and rear linings don't have a lot of meat left on them.
I have looked at all the spare's sites I've seen mentioned on here but few have parts for the xj700, will some parts for the 650 and 750 fit (oil filters etc).
The carbs seem very sticky and it's not easy to keep her ticking over without the choke on but before I attempt to strip them down I would like to try the carb cleaner I have seen mentioned on here, does it have a brand name. It was almost 40 years ago I last re-built a bike and that was a 350cc single cylinder Velocette Venom clubmans.
Most of the spares dealers seem to be in the states anyone know of any in the uk or europe. Bike bandit quoted 45$ to post 4 exhaust gaskets to Spain!

I'm pretty sure all of the 750 parts will fit except pistons and rings. They are really just XJ750s cut down a notch. I think oil filters are interchangeable across the 650-750 range. I know the clutch set I bought last summer fit a ton of different Yamahas, and many engine parts from the 650 have the same part #'s as the 750. Considering a 900 Seca engine will bolt straight into a 650 Turbo, I think most all parts not related directly to the heads, block, pistons and crank are interchangeable.
