I really enjoyed it as well, good even for people that aren't into bikes.

Hot Rod Magazine did a couple of pages on his journey. What an adventure! Next months issue had a letter from some fellow who's dad or uncle (can't recall which) was on the ship he rode over to the states in as his roommate. Seems he impressed more than a few people. Chasing a dream, what an inspirational story.

I've seen the bikes they used to film the movie, they ran them at a race meeting at our local track as a lunch time demo down the main straight which was pretty cool, my partner bought me the DVD

World Fastest Indian is an excellent movie. I wish they would make more movies like that. Good story line and a good subject!! Anthony Hopkins never lets ya down.

In the scene where he cuts his toenails with the angle grinder, my daughter-in-law leant across and said: "Did Sir Anthony spend a lot of time copying your mannerisms?"
    What a girl!

Watched the film twice this week great film and bags of nostalgia. Thought his Kiwi accent was not so good though, but I’m just being picky. And how come all the Yanks asked if he was English I was always being asked if I was Australian and my wife had to translate everything I said, well almost.

A little off topic here..... sorry

The New Zealand Prime Minister was in Washington this week to meet with George Bush. One of our radio stations rang around 30 random American people and asked if they knew where NZ was and over half of them had never even heard of it. Not one of the half that had heard of NZ knew where it was. One guy got so abusive that they had to cut him off.

When you have a country as big as the USA where many of its population have no interest in the outside world, small countries like NZ are only known to those who have an interest in the bigger picture.

    :)

    NZ. Lots of sheep.

When I got out of college I was offered a job with the following terms: At 90 days they could terminate me without explination, if they kept me I would be sent to NZ for 3 years. The nature of the offer really torqued me off because I had been recruited by one of their Executive VPs who was one of my instructors - and then got a probationary offer like that.

Two bad things about not going to NZ:

    1) never got to see the place which I understand is beautiful.

    2) moved to Michigan where I met my 1st wife.

    Burt Munro Challenge

Annual bike rally in Burts hometown... From all accounts, one of the best in this country.

Well worth the effort if you're ever down under.

NZ, BC and CA, do they shoot movies anywhere else?

Be sure to check out the special features for the old documentary made by the same director back when he was in film school. He reused a lot of good quotes when writing the dialog and it's great to see the real Burt talking and doing speed runs on country roads. At that speed even slight, gradual undulations really throw ya up in the air.
