As I was driving today, I passed by a house with this tour pack sitting out front. Knocked on the door to ask about it, and a lady came out and said it's free.

    SWEET!!!

Aside from being dirty and part of the lower fairing broken off, the only issue is that it's missing the key. Does anyone know how I could get one made?

Good score. I picked up a Alder Stratocaster guitar body and a 65' Silvertone tube amp last fall that worked fine. It's amazing what some people will throw away, i find myself scanning the curbs these days because you never know what you'll find.

That looks a lot like the tour pack for an early Virago. Nice find.

Any locksmith shop can do it. I've had several sets of those and still have three sets..... If you can open a bag then take the lock out and have a key made. If you can't open a bag the pull on of of a bag mount. Two acorn nuts and that's it. Take it to the locksmith. I've done that many times . If your stumped PM me and I'll help you . I'm quite familiar with these. You were fortunate to get the bag guards too!! Currently I have a near new luggage set, mounts, entenna mount, NOS guards, a NOS x-1 fairing w/ NOS lowers....... It's just sitting and waiting for the right project------

    Nice score!!

Yeah I'm pretty excited! I've been looking for hard bags for my Midnight Maxim for awhile now. Perfect timing too, because it's about to become a full frame up bagger resto project. And that's a big reason why I'm getting the Maxim X back on the road.

Anyway, I most likely will not be using the fairing tho, so that I'll probably post that up here sometime in the future for free to pick-up or just the cost of shipping (although something that big and heavy would probably cost more than it's worth).

I was able to unbolt one of the locks from a bracket. If I take the lock to a locksmith, can they cut a key for it?

Here's a better pic of the bags:

    Nice score!
If you are not going to use that fairing. Let me know!
I have been looking for one, and I could pick it up on one of my runs to delaware.

And to show you how good those bags will look on a Midnight.

A couple helpful hints to mount it.

The side bag racks will be straight forward, but will need longer bolts for the rear pegs. The turn signals will need the wires extended.

The luggage rack will bolt to the grab bar at the rear (top handle removed), and will require M10 stand offs on the shock mounts for the front (I made a couple from 5/16", or 3/8" coupling nuts, and retapped to attach to the shock mount).

Moose, you can also see one of my setups on my 650 maxim in my gallery. That setup is with a windjammer fairing and lowers.......

Thanks for the info guys. I won't be mounting the bags for quite some time, but at least I know where to go for help when I do. It appears my bike previously had some kind of rack mounted to it because the upper shock mounts already have longer bolts with extra cap nuts on them.

Ghost, the fairing is yours! Just let me know the next time you're in the area and I'll PM you my address.

Those bolts are often longer via an extension that goes on them. I looks like a really thick nut on the bolt, but its really an extension that screws onto the stud. It is used for mounting backrest, tall back seat supports, etc.....

Those will be the pieces that you need. Do not lose them! They are hard to find!

Sounds like a plan. I should be out that way around the mid-end of july. PM sent.

As long as it's not the weekend of July18-20 as I'll be riding out to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for the superbike races.
Any other time should be fine with advanced notice.
Always glad to help a fellow XJ'er out.
