    Hey all,

I'm in the process of putting an engine back together after putting in a new Primary Chain Guide. I bought this bike in a non-running state and when I took the gear selector mechanism apart I noted there were only 3 pins in this shifter assembly even though there were 5 holes (with 1 being the permanent key/pin for locating the piece into the internal drum). Are there supposed to be pins in each hole?

I had this together and dry cycled through the gears and couldn't get past third, so either I had the pins in the wrong holes, or I'm missing some...

Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Hey Franz,
This looks like there are 3 removable pins (#4) and 1 fixed pin (#5). Item 7 you referred to is in the case itself and much larger.

From this blow up it looks like what I have matches up, I guess maybe I just put them in the wrong holes. If anyone has pictures of which holes the pins go in it would be soooo helpful, otherwise I guess trial and error :)

Does is indicate in the Haynes manual the neutral position when fitting the selector drum because the pins must be fitted at the top because that is where the selector claws are.

The stopper arm sits on the pins too.

Just to close this out for any future searchers. I figured out that the little dots on the wheel indicate which holes need pins (should have noticed it sooner!). Also, one of these pins is longer than the others. Originally I thought that one was permanently in the assembly because it didn't come out like the others. The longer pin goes in one of the inner holes, and can be located based on where neutral is and where the numbering on the face of the piece in the helpful pictures that @Franz shared. Thanks for the help Franz!
