After a 25 year hiatus, I just picked up this nice 900. Passed Ontario DOT with no issues. 40k, was sitting for 2 years so I flushed/changed all fluids and took her on a 200k ride today. Pleased to say the bike runs great and the old guy on board still has most of his balance. Looks mostly original except for Jardines and engine guards.

Nice one where did you pick this up. There was one for sale a month ago here just outside of Montreal.

    Enjoy

Welcome, super, what a great looking 900, it's even got the air scoops.
    Enjoy, Wiz.

I chose the same bike to come back after 24 years in the wilderness, but its nowhere near as immaculate as that. Nice one.

    Cheers, Murray

Nice bike, man! Looks like you got the Canada find, along with my USA find of last year. :) Hey, the engine guards are probably the original ones unless you have proof that they are not. I have the same things on mine.

Wow, I feel like a kid at the park with a new toy. Thanks for the nice comments. The bike is as I received it, it needs a real good cleaning. Wiz, air scoops? Just below the tank? Do they have a habit of disappearing? Dave, the label on the guards says "Triangle". I have some things to do, change original flex hoses, valve adjustment etc. And, I'm wondering about the availability of some cosmetic items, one of my handle bar plastic bolt caps is not correct (visible at bottom of top photo), the ignition switch label is worn and yes, I need a new master cyl sight glass.
    Thanks again.

Thanks for the label pic. I'll have to take a closer look at mine and see if there's anything or indication of label. Interesting. If you need parts, contact Len Chacal at info@xj4ever.com He'll have just about any part you need and it'll be a WHOLE lot less than at a yamarobber.

Take a look at mine....it's in my gallery.

Looks like the one I sold in Edmonton in 2002. You'll notice that there is no YAMAHA badge on the tank, which leads me to suspect that the tank is not the original. There is a reason for that, they tend to rust out along the bottom near the back. Take care to store it properly each winter, as I am not sure if they sell tanks new anymore. Mine was $800 eight years ago.

Sad day, after 5 trouble-free years, I've sold my 900.
Good news is I just purchased an 86 FJ1200 in with less than 15k. Pics to follow.
