Put a set on my X and they are high quality replacements. Saves you a ton of money compared to new slides (even if you could find them).

Excellent place to purchase replacement diaphragms. Unfortunately, they don't offer replacements for the 550's with the smaller Mikuni BS28 carbs.

It's interesting enough to try out if I need to replace those. The "Made in USA" part is pointless to me tho...I'm riding a Japanese bike afterall!

ones from Japan would be the most expensive and might be radioactive or 30 years old. American ones would be the best because his livelihood depends on it. Chinese would be cheapest and probably come with their own pin holes.
i'll take the American ones, the guy is right down the road from a lot of us.

Tony, I tried M-H-68-S as replacements for my BS28 carb diaphragms. The inside diameter was a perfect fit around the slides but the outer circumference was to large.

these replacements sure beat the cost of brand new original slides.....

Does anyone out there have any experience with these replacement diaphrams on an '82 XJ750J Maxim or Seca with the HSC32 carbs....

Did you let them know? They really are "right down the road from a lot of us" and they do have a forum account. From what I can tell, they're sincerely trying really hard to fill a genuine gap in the aftermarket for older bikes. If they don't work properly on our particular flavor of BS28s they would want to know.

OK, so I just checked their website.

The M-H-68-S isn't listed as being for the BS28 Mikunis on the 550s.

Since I happen to have a BRAND NEW Mikuni BS28, series 5K5 (550 Maxim) I will contact them and offer it on loan if they want to make diaphragms for our bikes too.

    Stay tuned.

I know this is an old post but maybe this update will be useful. This is my first post but am a longtime reader. Needing new diaphragms for 81 XJ550 carbs, I stumbled through a couple hours of web surfing with a lot of time on the JBM site. Although their site is somewhat cumbersome when searching for specific information, I think I did find what I was looking for. They list a part no. T-63 for a Teikei carb that apparently is dimensionally the same as that needed for the Mikuni BS28. They mention the XJ550 in the remarks for this T-63 part. A link is provided on one of their pages to another site where a user did use this part number for his XJ550 carbs and also posted a pictorial how-to tutorial for this carb repair. Looks good to me and I plan to order parts tomorrow. The link can be found by clicking on the T-63 part no. in the application spreadsheet

I honestly hope they work out!!! Let us know if they fit. But that guy is a asshole. I emailed that guy a few years ago with the dimensions (so did bigfitz) and he replied to me saying that "those carbs sound like there off a cheap Chinese scooter." And I never replied to him again.

the guy in the link said it worked for him, I can just imagine how many calls he got about this, he did not make them for the 28mm mikuni and prob does not want the liability of claiming they work.
if i need the part I will get them from him

JBM INDUSTRIES manufactures diaphragms to fit constant velocity "CV"
carburetors used on certain older vintage motorcycles.
JBM is a part manufacturer and makes only the parts. We cannot give advise on
    carburetors, jets, or engine problems.
JBM does not know which diaphragms can be used on your vintage motorcycle or
how many carburetors it has. The buyer must measure his carburetor body as
shown. Be sure you know carburetor maker. Years and countries vary.
Never try to measure the old rubber as it may be swollen or have shrunk out of
the original dimensions. Measure the carb body only!

I finally completed my Mikuni BS-28 carb rodeo with a complete church of clean overhaul, including 4 new T-63 diaphragms from JBM Industries. The new diaphragms were pretty tight going on but some HOT water helped the thick collar stretch just a little going on. After doing the thorough cleaning, bench synchro using the bigfitz52 visual hole cover method, final balance with the Carbtune Pro Synch Gauge tool, idle mixture adjustments, the little guy starts immediately from cold, quickly establishes a nice smooth comfortable idle, and responds to the throttle with no hesitation and hangups, either up or down. The diaphragms seem to be functioning just as one would want them to. No complaints with them at all. $80 for the diaphragms well spent.
