Those type of rims were used on other bikes, too.....the 900rk, 750rl, xz550, to name a few.....and the 550 seca, iirc....so yeah, they are not original to that bike.

ALSO NOT ORIGINAL is as least the speedometer--that has been swapped out with a higher mph one. The correct one would only go to about 85mph, iirc. The cluster may have been swapped with one from a Virago 920, but I can't remember what the rpm ranges were if there is a difference on the rev's.

Yeah, the price seems a bit steep......the 650rj non-turbo is a rare bike here, but I don't think it's THAT rare. But hey.....if it sells at that price, that's good for those of us who have one! :)

Which would mean that the mileage is most likely not original either. Perhaps that's why it says "mileage shows13k"...wonder what the actual mileage is

Not the 550 Seca; but with those rims and brakes I'm thinking 650 Turbo. The 550 Seca had a different style of straight-spoked wheels.

I don't think the guys knows that the rims and speedo aren't stock; I suspect he bought it that way. It appears to have original brake lines, etc., so it will need enough work that $2900 is a bit high.

As for the cafe'd bike linked above, unless a potential buyers taste in mods corresponds with his, it's going to take him a while to sell it. I also suspect that he's having trouble getting his modded carbs set up, wanna bet? His price wouldn't be out of line if it were running properly but I'm thinking it probably isn't.

Way steep considering it still has the original brake lines and from the sound of things, the original rear tire plus it also sounds like the valves have never been checked. It also has the wrong oil in it; I wonder if that's why he's selling it (thinks the starter clutch is starting to go?)

That one's worth maybe $2000 ~$2500 and that would be pushing it.

Which is also about what the other two are worth.

Funny that with all the meticulous car, always, garaged, never ridden in the rain, etc.............he had to derust the gas tank?

Look at the discs, Seca 650 Turbo. Very unique slots cut into those discs that I am pretty sure were only on the Seca Turbo 650.

Ok, looking at the pic again, I see it doesn't have the round holes in the spokes like on my 900's. The slots are still the same as one the xz550 though. The difference I see there is that the turbo would have two rotors, the xz550 has only one rotor. However, the rime may still be the same..... the plastic blockoff cover is there, to allow for the right side rotor, just like all of the 650 maxim rims have.........just pull the cover off and you can attach the right side brake rotor....

Good point, but it would have to be an 83 Vision rotor, the US 82's have a solid single disc. It is interesting how on both of my 82 Vision rims there is the slot for putting another disc onto the wheel.

I notice this 1981 Japanese market XJ750E featured at Yamaha's museum collection has a different disc altogether, very interesting. Makes one wonder, how would the Seca 750 below have sold in the states vs. the version we ended up getting.
