    Hi,
Long story short, it's time for me to upgrade the ignition coils for my 81 xj750 seca

I just want to confirm the part number for dynatek ignition coils...

I plan on running BPR7ES plugs which have resistance built in as the BP7ES are not available locally

So I'm thinking the DC1-2 with 3.0 ohm "primary" resistance and 11.5K ohms "secondary" resistance sounds about right?

Or should I be going for the DC1-1 with 3.0 primary resistance and 14.4k ohms secondary resistance?

    Thanks!

And I can use resisted spark plugs with them?

Yes. Use resistance in plugs or caps, not both. Denso have a BP7ES equivalent: Denso W22EP-U

And then how do I sort out which plug wires to get?

just go to the auto parts place and get plug wire, copper, no resistance. then either get a plug with a R in the number or contact chacal and get fancy ngk boots.
at the parts store it might be cheaper to get a whole set of 7mm accell solid copper wires, then you get boots for both ends and wires....for 2 bikes. then get the R plugs ( they come in colors) :)

    Answering for Polock here :):

    R=Resistance (as in BPR7ES)

HAP has a good write-up on coils and plugs: http://www.maxim-x.com/dyna_coils.html
    (installation/brackets for a Maxim-X, wires/boots/connectors general)

The r plugs comes in colour? or the boots?

So any auto parts store should have the copper spark plug wires and boots to build my own wires?

Resistor or non-resistor plugs look identical, except for the writing on them:

"Boots" are the from-water-intrusion rubber protections which slide over where the cable is connected to the ignition coil (at least on an aftermarket solution like the Dynas) and where the cable is connected with the spark plug cap. (check the link to HAP I gave you)

The caps on your bike are either non-resistor or with a resistance (probably 5 Kohm). If you can read the writing on the cap, it tells you, otherwise you have to measure with a DMM - which is a good idea anyway, as they can/will fail over time.

Try; depending on which wire you get, you may also need 4 connectors for the cable ends, where they plug into the Dynas (check HAP´s page again). The other end of the cables screw into the spark plug caps (thus no connectors can be mounted here).

You know, maybe we should have put the model number of the Dynas in that file...
