Well I finally got financially ready to finish my project. Figured out how im going to mount everything and all that good stuff
Im eliminating the key and adding a hidden switch instead, that part I have fully understood, im also adding a heavy duty push button mounted next to the switch. My question is should my switch be a three way
IE: Toggle down-power to bike but starter button toggle down power to all? OR just still with K.I.S.S.?
Also being that i eliminating the button and knob on the bar what are my options for relocating that throttle guide? Seems like I almost have to have that there in order to be able to throttle?? Thoughts

Thoughts. You're making it easy for a casual thief to grab himself a motorcycle.

While you're at it, leave the car key in your ignition.... Then after your bike is gone, they can take car, too.

look for a throttle from a dirt bike. A generic replacement might be the smallest. Good luck on a cable. A kill switch and starter button from a dirt bike too.
if you only use one three position switch, make one of the wrong positions blow the horn. Use the clutch switch as a second switch

thats what insurance is for, go ahead and steal it, but where I go and where I live and who I Ride with...people dont steal bikes sorry that you must live somewhere that that is a concern for you. But anyways Im going with a toggle to turn on power which wont necessarily be easy to locate and a push button just like how its wired now essentially. Meh, maybe ill just leave the old switch there for throttle sake and it will look slightly original then I suppose.

ohhhhh new idea.....Ill go ahead and leave the original switch on there and just re-purpose it. The new headlight I have (which im struggling to mount) has a LED halo and I plan to do red accent LED's all over bike. So heres a thought let me know if its possible. Ok so right now the switch for off/on has off in center and left and right are the same thing. Im going to wire the Halo to turn on when the switch its turned to the left and all of the leds including the halo to turn on when its turned the right.....makes sense to me.

All I know is that it sucks to walk home after work. It sucks even more in the rain.

doesn't matter how many keys you have if the thief has a truck. but you're right about walking in the rain

Decent theives don't use trucks (unless they like being caught). Nobody looks twice at a guy who is trying to get "his" motorcycle unlocked because he "forgot" the key. Some people have even been known to help the poor fellow out.

Most people I ride with have 40k dollar Harley's and leave the keys in the ignition when we stop. Anyone could walk up and steal it. But we don't live in that type of place.
I have a few toggles. The one i plan to use for starting is a dual pin. So just simply neg and pos. Then I'll wire the push button next to that. Then my new goal is to use the factory yamaha "run-off-run" switch to control the led's on the bike. Reason I'm doing this is the push button start failed multiple times last year and left me dismantling it in parking lots wiggling cords and eventually it would work but looking at the switch the solder points are beautiful it's not coroded. It has no reason not to work. But incase it ever decides not to Id rather not be able to turn on my LEDS than not start my bike lol

we used to leave our doors unlocked and not worry about it untill someone published the info then the walk in theft started, funny thing is we have no law to prevent you from walking into someones house as long as the door is unlocked, to be charged with a b&e you have to bypass a lock

Pretty different concept than taking off with someone's motorcycle...,unless you live in an RV, in which case im not sure how they would process that one

It's actually pretty up there on those charts lol if you think those charts matter and arent paid for by advertisers. I also never said it was crime free, but it's pretty grand theft auto free. Besides none of that is the point. Unless you have some valid information pertaining to the project at hand then the shit you have to say is irrelevant. If you can read you'll see I've been warned of theft...and as was pointed out bikes can be easily stolen with or without keys. So move along with your no knowledge dumb ass remarks. :)

Here you checked starter solenoid, they are a problem that is annoying but they are repairable. It might go "click" but poor contact.

it would be taking without authority. misdimenor.

The red leds you want to install you may want to ask the dmv or pd about that if you plan on putting them on the side and front of your XJ.
we do not want you confused for a fire truck or ambulanceo_O.
so did you check out the starter?
