What is the original date on the title (the date of printing)?

I know how to make the odo discrepancy go away.

If the motor runs well I wouldn't worry about it. Given the other changes, it is very likely that the mileage on the odometer represents the mileage of the bike that the odometer came from.

Skip, your 900 has previously been entered. I'll send a private conversation, too

Michigan...interesting. Is there a date attached to that submission?
Ill take some pictures today and send them to you.

How many of these bikes were imported/sold in the US in 1983?

Estimate is between 1000-2000 for period of about 3 months, before the Harley tariff was enacted and out and end to them here. They were available for several years throughout the rest of the world.

As I said, the info was submitted by someone in Michigan but that only means that they had a 900rk serial # for me----- they could have come up with it anywhere, including eBay listings, etc.....

No other information is available other than what I sent you privately.

As long as the seller signature matches the owner name on the title, you sign as the buyer, you get a new title issued to you. No prob.

You bought what appears to be a legal and legit bike. It's got a clear title, you just need to register it and have a title issued to you in your name. Then you start the restoration or refurbishing.

THAT is where we can help you .

Good deal. I already secured a front fender and passenger grab bar for it, next will be looking for the original clip on's, and lose those non-standard ones on there now that make me feel like I am lying on top of the tank :)

    Dave,
Dont think I sent you some pictures, so here are three of the XJ900. I have already picked up the rear aluminum grab bar, front fender, the correct aluminum mount for fender, both right and left clip ons, and a triple tree assembly, as it would seem that not only are the current clip ons not correct, neither is the top clamp that the originals mount to. I am still keeping my eyes peeled for the fairing, and the little scoops/oil cooler covers on the bottom/front of the tank. There are four fairings on fleaBay right now, but they are all pretty beat up...and those little oil cooler covers, I have just not seen yet, period. Luckily this is not something I am going to attack immediately (want to finish XJ750 project which is pretty close to done, first) so I have the luxury of waiting to see what becomes available, but if you hear of anything...

There is a new member who was asking about removing the fairing from his 900 and swapping to a round headlight. You might want to start a conversation and see if y'all can come to an agreement. http://www.xjbikes.com/forums/members/core.18916/

Yeah, those scoops are not easy to get. I only have three or four extra sets :)

K-Moe... thanks for the heads up... I looked at it, but I think it is from a different year/model XJ900. It comes down pretty far on the bottom, such that I might not be able to mount the scoops, you know, like the ones Dave is hoarding :)

Speaking of which, Dave you seem to be the 900 guy here, on average what is a fair price for the scoops, and for a fairing for the bike? Oh, and I was kidding about the hoarding...feel free to take pity on me because I am scoopless and sell me a set of yours...

Dave's parts horde is no joke, in fact it's quite legendary. Once a year he allows a privileged few on his property to view the Holy Horde under the guise of a carb clinic. I believe he then sacrifices them to the gods of XJ in order to have another successful year of harvest. As a bonus, the location remains secret... as does the location of the mass grave.

All Hail Dave, all Hail Dave....I am genuflecting as I write this. Perhaps the XJ gods will bless me with a pair of scoops for my 900, and if not, I guess I can always hang some beads or maybe some furry dice from the hooks under the tank.

I've seen those scoops go waaay high. I backed out on a pair awhile back when they went over $200. ( but I must say they were pristine )

I do have a pair that I would make available, you'd have to do some plastic repair ( or i can do it for you), and sodablast them and repaint. Start a private conversation with me....
