    Hi guys,

    This might seem like a stupid question but does anyone have a photo of how the throttle cable is installed onto the carb?

    Reason I'm asking is I bought my maxim with the carbs off the bike but after I tried installing the carb back in, the throttle cable doesn't reach. I can slip the metal notch into the bracket but the metal eyelet at the end doesn't extend long enough to sit in the grove and slide into the loop. I'm missing at least 2" of slack to proper seat the eyelet into the slot and feed the cable into the metal bracket.

    The choke cable and fuel lines all fit so I'm confused as to how the throttle cable is installed. If anyone can grab me a photo that would be great. I just want to make sure that the correct throttle cable is installed on the bike.

    HCP11967 Aftermarket original THROTTLE "STUB" CABLE, cable only, adapter bracket not included. Short 3" long adapter cable that actually attaches to the #3 carb body throttle shaft bracket. CABLE ONLY, you must re-use your metal adapter clamp that the main throttle cable (HCP2690 or HCP2649 listed below) hooks into. Effective solution if you're suffering a busted wire on this stub cable assembly. For use on all XJ550 models only.
    $ 29.95

    do you have the little clamp?

    with out the little square connector a new cable from xj4ever will do nothing for you.
    the part number will get you to where you can get the part

    it may be possible to get a custom throttle cable with the extra length and do away with the correct part.
    it would depend on cost of custom

    if your good with a drill and saw you could fab that connector yourself.
    then it would be about the cost of drill bits

    i'm gonna go look in my spare parts bin I might have one
