The valve cover is off, needs wiring done, gas tanks are rusted inside... Came with a sportster style peanut tank. Has a complete gasket set which I plan to install.. Drive shaft is disconnected also... And rear brake is "laminated" wtf ever that means... But I'm sure that I will need to put some work in on that too. I got a lot on my plate and I'm extremely eager to get started.

+1 what k-moe and 550 said. Get a manual, assemble the drive shaft, valve cover w/gasket and remove the rear wheel. Source a good used harness from e-bay or start a conversation with Chacal.

    Still, nice orange/gold starter motor...

.. but appears to be missing an important stoppy device front left.

Oh, I hadn't looked at the photos. Become very familliar with what all the parts look like, and where they go. Also become familliar with testing and inspection procedures for each assembly. I think you will be doing a full teardown and inspection. That U-joint was unbolted from the output shaft for a reason. The mystery is; what reason? And since it's unbolted you're most of the way to pulling the swingarm out to inspect and replace/repack the bearings. Also the misalignment there makes me think that the rear engine mounting bolts hae been removed. Maybe just to pull the foot pegs, but maybe to pull the engine.

Slow, methodical, patience. Don't try to force a end-date for this to be ready by.

He intends to bob it. Imo he needs to get it together enough to do the compression test so he'll know the mill is viable and he can go forward with the project.

A new project is always fun. I always think of this when I bring something new (old) home.

ok. I got the bottom part of the factory tank off.. I'm going to look in to mating it with a harley sportster peanut tank - I know I'm going to lose a significant amount of fuel volume, but I love the small tank look.

Ecto 1 needs suspension work AND shocks? I wonder if they can do both at the same time?

I ordered a Haynes manual for her on Friday. Should be here on Monday. Once it gets here, I'm going to start working on getting her back together and running.

If you have the engine mounting hardware and output to driveshaft bolts temporarily assemble the engine and driveshaft so you can try to manually turn the motor over to get the valves in spec. Have you sourced a good used wiring harness?

I will start figuring all the timing stuff out too when the book comes in. I'm going to have to do break jobs too.
