I Am Having the Pleasure of rebuilding my Xj 650 RJ Seca 4ko engine. i'm in the UK so current engine number prefix is 4k0- i'm needing replacement crankcases (long story) have found engine cases prefix
5V2- i believe these to be american import cases for a XJ650 RJ Seca, am i right in this belief?

also will any pre YICS 650 barrels fit ie maxim yes i need barrels as well

i know your all screaming buy a donor bike and swap the engine but there are not a lot of low mileage bike around, and i could be in the same predicament so i might as well bite the bullet and rebuild and have a bike that should last.

Pre diversion 900 engines are an option but i think you need a lot of mods to fit or the cam cover cant be removed when in the frame, i may have picked it up wrong.

    please help!

    regards
    Gary.

Cases from any XJ650 or XJ750 will work for you. The only thing of concern is to get Seca cases if you want to retain the solid-mount engine. I have Maxim cases on my Seca, and with some modifications to the mounts I now have a rubber-mounted engine.

The barrels will swap between YICS and non-YICS engines; just be sure to block the YICS ports on your head if you have a YICS engine (tap the holes and use grub screws).

This link will give you the information oh how to ID cases by the short-VIN

    Hi

I am splitting my crankcase on my 1997 XJ600 75,000 miles... as the bearing on the Output shaft in the transmission has collapsed....I just wondered how you lifted the engine, to fit it..?...to the Engine Stand.........

I thought about the Engine Stand.....on more than one occasion, but...wasn't sure how to lift and drop 70kg without a Lift of some kind.....

    Good Luck...with your engine, rebuild...

    I'm still dismantling mine
