    Yes congrats on birth .
As far as the bike goes, just knowing it is waiting in the garage for your return to working on it will keep you sane.
When my youngest was not in school yet I would take him out to the workshop and let him play in his pen and watch me work. With the radio on and me humming along it wasn't long before he was sound asleep. If you have to get up early on a day off try it. Grab the first one to wake up and scoot away before the rest of the house is up and it will give your spouse a break.:)

my #2 exhaust pipe was cold damn. took my spare plug tested for spark had spark. took out plug it was wet so i put in a new plug.
pipe still running cold. Started taking tank off to pull carbs, and my vaccum line was not connected. forgot to plug it with a golf tee when I using my auxiliary tank and reconnect it to tank.
Hooked it up and #2 got hot.

I finished converting a dual carb setup for an XV920 into a single carb setup. The stupid part: I painted the choke linkage, forgetting that it needs to be cut and re-welded to clear the throttle cable stay. I may just end up making an alternate choke lever using the slaved choke bracket.

Same here in Holland ~53 F in Nov and dry and some sun, went on 2 wheels to work but not motored .

On the bike (FJ600) i put the 10 $ gripheaters on , just over the regular grip as they are just the wire pad and then slipped a piece of innertube from a bicycle over it. So hardly visible and easy to remove come march.
I already mounted the switch inside the fairing within reach of the left hand.

As this came from the shelf I found the relay too so will connect the wires some other day this week.

The relay to have ghe switch powerless when parked as some joker will push the switch to kill your battery some day....

    Bye Richard

Oh one more thing , the rear shock is leaking I found a replacement for under 50€ ($) so will try to order it asap ..

I looked at it. The Virago specifically. I looked, and measured, and looked...
I seems clear to me that Yamaha intend that there be a Hossack front end on this bike. I mean, why the extra hole in the front engine mount but for an A-Arm anchor? My build just got more complicated (and will likley take years to complete).

This is going to be wonderfully stupid :)

Not stupid at all, but it made me feel sad and for that I feel stupid . . . . .

Put my baby to rest for the winter, brought the seat inside to take the roof off the mouse motel, plug the mufflers, battery inside on tender, tires off concrete and stabil run through. Sigh.

    C'mon Spring!!!! :D

Your brief intermission shall pass, but I bet WI winters are grueling. During the rest period, I feel sure there will be strange noises or flashes of light that will leave you suspicious and compel you check on the 'baby' many times. BTDT, HA! Just leave the battery in the warm house. Less temptation. Quiet bike stare downs inspire creative thinking - new ideas, new accessories, enhancements, etc. Hey, 50k - got a question - what mandatory repairs (not maintenance or scheduled wear part replacements) have you faced along the way? At 15 K on my 81 650 Maxim (I've put 10K on it), I've HAD to rebuild the master cylinder and caliper, replace the fuse box, starter snout oring seal, and shifter centering shaft spring. Much more has been done in the interest of safety of course....well my wife still buys that story anyway. Thanks.

Idk what your plans are for the build but whatever they are once you sort things out you'll be well on your way.

The only real sticking point now is money. Everything else is just ironing out the details.

ssssh, if I ignore it maybe it won't come..

Actually since we moved even further up north in Cheesehead land the winters are a bit fiercer. Am actually looking forward to it as we got a new woodstove and it is uber efficient.

But I really just want to ride! We have been in a slow transition from Milwaukee to here and finally have most everything in place which started opening up random road trips on long county roads in the northwoods, no other traffic, scenic, get lost kinda stuff . . . .

Welcome to the Great North Woods. I feel your pain, long winding country roads not a car in sight.
