I got them off ebay and they were working perfect all summer.... After getting caught in a bad rain storm they would light up but they would not flash. They are not LED and I went through all of the wiring to see if there is corosion and nothing.

I also started experiencing the nasty grinding when I try to start the engine. It's embarrassing, it sounds like a robot regurgitating. I've searched on here a bunch and I can't seem to find answers that I need. ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED!

Did you take the bulbs out and check under them?

That sound is likely your starter clutch slipping. What kind of oil are you using?

Also, how's your battery? There's a chance a weak battery could cause both issues.

Water might have gotten into the signal relay (this can happen if you ride into a driving rain). It isn't a sealed unit, so you can just pop the cover off and check it for condensation/corrosion. Clean and dry it as needed.

I pulled the bulbs out and they still look brand new. 20w 50 non synthetic. I'll check the batter tomorrow morning for sure.... has me wondering now

Non synthetic should be good, synthetic is fine to as long as it meets JASO MA requirements.

I'd test the battery first, if that is good you'll have to look into it further. Removing the starter motor and spraying what you can of the starter clutch area and/or running sea foam in the crankcase for a hundred miles or so would be the next step.

While the starter is out, go ahead and open it. clean it, regrease the gears, and put in a new set of brushes.
