Small wonder the PO must have had no charging !
Someone trapped the stator output wire so that it was rubbed through by the rotor ...

I have the same problem and getting another multimeter to double check the Stator and Rotor resistance figures which are slightly high at the moment. But I noticed the green and brown wires, brown has o.3 Ohms resistance and the green has 5 Ohms resistance. As my meter is reading 0.2 Ohms when I put the positive leads together means the brown has 0.1 Ohm resistance and the green has 4.8 Ohms, surely this figure is too high and the supply voltage is too low as a consequence for the alternator to work. Any advice on this thanks?

It was discovered by accident when I removed the endcasting from the alternator whilst trying to make enough room to fit a standard airbox on an installed engine.
My late father I think called it Murphy's Law in the aero industry. "If a part can be installed incorrectly - someone will eventually do it."
Wires not actually severed but definitely shorted together. I have today tried pushing them apart and re-insulating with silicone. We'll see.

After silicone had set I checked wires for both continuity and non-contact.
Then wrapped with some self-amalgamating tape to tidy things up and replace the worn-away braid tube section.

Can no longer Edit first post but of course those two wires to the brushes are for what we call the "exciter" circuit. The three wires from the stator were fine.
With hindsight I wish I'd made a thin plastic strip to go under the nearest Phillips screw and hold back the wire behind/around and not over the plastic moulding - so 'trapping' simply could not happen again.
When I renew the brushes I'll be making that tiny mod.

Yes quite right wires getting trapped and damaged like that is no good.
