x's are going for a lot more than that around here! I've recently seen a couple of them listed for 3-4 times that, although that's in Canadian funds.

Funny story; that's exactly how I got my XJ:

"Hey, honey! Want to take a trip up to Canmore? Sure, it's the middle of winter, but just imagine how beautiful the Rockies will be, all dusted in snow? The weather looks fine, roads should be good!"

We get into Canmore, and I say "Just before dinner, I need to make a quick stop." I take off into the wilderness, up a mountain covered in a good two feet of snow, stop outside a house and tell em to wait a minute... Then out I come with the XJ, and load it into the truck.

"The mountains sure are beautiful this time of year, aren't they honey?"

    ... Silence.

    Good times!

Ah well, I got a bike that night which I love dearly. That's all I got that night, but it was worth it.

For $1000 on a 550 Maxim, I'd expect to at least have:

    A good battery
    The side covers
A tach cable that's not 5 miles long.....
    Mirrors
    Tank badges

    ....and for the mid-80's 500----

For $950, I'd expect the parts to be there, too.....
Oh yeah--I'd expect the seller to know that his bike is really a 550, as well.

for 950 bucks would be nice if air filter cover and filter was on the bike but it runs and rides great.:)

all 3 so overpriced for NH

Now, if it weren't missing that one tiny little handlebar clamp bolt center, it might be worth it---but missing that, and the wrong grips, it's about $1000 too high..... lol. The red cap on the vacuum port lessens the value more. Lol

Seriously, though-- that's pretty clean and sharp!

Yes, sure is a lot more pretty than mine! I'm having a hard time deciding what to spruce up and what to leave as "patina".

Don't go with 'patina'. That might work for a car-----or rat-ish bike......but not a nice Seca

I like the color... black isn't all that common for a Seca. Would the pods be a "cosmetic issue"?

There's a bunch of black ones around here. 2 posted recently ($300 and $400); not running mind you. I'm kind of curious how this one runs and considering checking it out just to see how it is in comparison - how well they tuned it with the pods.

That is an xj900rk tank, and it's pretty beat.

That is the 750 Seca 'sport fairing'. It's smaller and lighter in weight than the full touring fairing. Take a look in my gallery and you can see one on Steve R's bike......the silver 750r.
