Hi, just wanted to introduce myself and say thanks, I've found a priceless amount of information on this site. I just purchased a 1982 Maxim 750, 60000 kms. My previous bike was a Maxim 400, and I do love the style of these bikes. The power of the 750 is going to take some getting used to. Thank you all again, I truly do appreciate it. (Apologies for all the scrap, I run a machine shop from home) IMG_20180610_0945406.jpg IMG_20180610_0945475.jpg IMG_20180610_0946026.jpg

I have family in and around Newmarket. I'm a little bit down the 401 in Cornwall.

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome! It needs a good cleanup and a mechanical once over. It was sitting in the PO's brother's garage, PO wanted to turn it into a bobber but moved out east, and told brother to do whatever he liked with it. Rode it home 80 kms, no issue at all. He told me the choke cable was busted, turned out it just slipped out of its clamp on the carb. Came with two new tires too, not a bad deal at $550 IMO.

A machinist should never apologize for having scrap lying around.

Apologies only because it's been too long since I did a scrap run. Just finished up fixing up the dumper I bought from my neighbour so its been piling up badly.

Absolutely, the XJ Maxim has always been one of my favourite bikes, versatile, comfortable, and I think that teardrop tank is sexier than any other bike of the era.

I will second that request. Very sexy and well engineered bike stock.
