In an effort to avoid actually working on a Monday, I had a random thought/question, based off a post I spotted here earlier today:

Is there (or we should start) a list of parts no longer available. (and maybe parts that are on the endangered list?)

It would be limited to parts that can no longer be purchased new or through Chacal. Things that nobody's come up with a replacement for or remanufactured versions. Things we're forced to hunt down parts bikes for?

I can't imagine the list is long, but I bet it's growing. Maybe someone might get inspired to engineer replacements.

We had this discussion several years ago. The work involved would be a full time job for one person for about three years.
The easiest way to see if what you need is NLA is to just look it up on the online parst fiche that most Yamaha dealers let you use for ordering parts.

Here is one (I only sometimes order from them because of wait times and high shipping prices).

I have a spare transmission from an FZ600. If you can verify the collar is the same part then $20 + shipping

What’s that #19 collar made of? Machined steel?

Seems like a good candidate for fabrication, if one were to provide an unworn piece to spec from

    That collar # 90387-257A3-00 fits all XJ550, FJ600, and YX600 (Radian) models.......the FZ600 uses a different part.
