Well that explains that then. Thanks.

@hogfiddles, apparently you're not riding your Seca 750's often enough :p

Hogfiddles I think your next carb clinic should focus on erecting a barn for all these bikes.
How many XJ riders does it take to erect a barn on a weekend?

I've seen Amish drive cars, trucks, construction equipment and all sorts of other things, but I've never seen one on a motorcycle...

Last night, a new-old petcock arrived for me! Thank you, @Toomanybikes!

So tonight, Rebuilding a gas cap and starting on the petcock rebuild, so I can revert to original equipment!

Unless friends lure me away with beer and a swimming pool.

Inspected a set of Hagon shocks I bought, cheap and unseen on ebay. When they arrived they looked a lot worse than in the pics...
Anyway, the good thing about these chrome springed Hagons is the built in shield which keeps the stems dry - result? A good pair of gas shocks, just in need of external tarting up. The bad thing about them is they're not very stiff, suspect no good for two up or even possibly my 15stone.
Still waiting for an answer on the bits from ikon (which incidentally are adjustable and much stiffer, so worth pursuing).

As if people should not already know once you get your bike dialed in I.E. keeping up on the maintenance there is not much to do but ride! :D
This is where I am at riding every chance I get.
With all the chores of being a responsible adult I have decided to take one day a week for ME-riding as far as possible!
Yesterday went from Medford Oregon to HWY 140 to Klamath Falls going over a couple of summits 4150 and the next 5380 in elevation. This was my way of getting out of the SMOKE from all the fires around the Valley.
I also received my new back tire Bridgestone Battle Axe BT45R. Already have a new matching front tire which I will be having mounted this coming week.
    50 MPG :)
    240 miles ridden :p

Was working on the wife’s Santa Fe yesterday and had to stop by the hardware store. Pulled up and parked where I always park was a beautiful FJ1200 and R1 next to it. I parked and the guy with the R1 said “Holy crap 2 classic Yamaha sport bikes!”
I laughed and he asked if I was with the FJ and I told him I’d never seen it before. Then the owner cane out and said “Yamaha heaven”. Was cool to chat with the two of them and that FJ was gorgeous.

A whole bunch of crap at work related to the downfall of the newspaper industry and the imminent demise of our paper in particular. So at lunch just now I took a fifteen minute ride on Brother Seca and I feel greatly refreshed and I’m sure my blood pressure dropped 20 points. If they marketed these things as healthcare devices, I could get a prescription and have insurance pay for the bike.

Walked by my bike this morning to my cage and drove to work. :(
Southern Oregon Medford to be exact is completely engulfed in smoke! Visibility is 3/4 of a mile and when you are breathing you can taste the ash from the fires.
Really sucks although on a positive note it is mother natures way of cleansing her self.
    Natural order of life
Temps running into triple digits for the next few days as well.

Having a respectable level of fear on the mountain twistys will keep you safer than fearlessly pushing the bike as fast as you can around corners.
Been riding since the 60s and have lost friends and seen lots of bodies covered with sheets

Found a photo of the bike before the accident. I had fitted a Motad 4 into 1 and got the fairing resprayed plus a better fuel tank but I liked the Jama System too that was on the bike until a car driver wrecked it. XJ 900f 8th August 2018.jpg

I just finished a trip through most of the west. The smoke haze started around La Junta Colorado, and got worse the further west I went.
Conditions around Salt Lake were similar to what you have in Medford, but visibility was about 3 miles.
