Yes without the pic and sales flyer I would not have believed of it's existence.
I'd really like to see one of those helmets. :p

That XJ650 Turbo 1 is not to be messed with. 10.9 second quarter mile. That’s a fast bike!

Also, shows the strength of the motor, and the faith Yamaha had in it, to handle a 10Psi boost Turbo attachment, without much more than lowered compression, and strengthened clutch springs

I'd prefer the martini Porsches that they pay tribute to, but I'll take the Yamaha

No one on the Turbo board had heard of it before either and we have some pretty hard-core turbo guys who've been around a long time. Thanks Simmy for posting it here and to turpentyne for the Circuit---that's a great piece of history to go with the first part posted!!! ---I posted in on the Turbo board, hope it's ok.

This stuff doesn't matter but to a very small group.....maybe just a few hundred or thousand out of 6 billion....but to us, it's cool stuff!

Technical question. With a hose in the filler cap where do you add oil?

Likely in the same spot. The hose is the turbo oil return to the sump.

I haven't seen that kit up close, but I have seen oil return lines plumbed that way. There should be a QD fitting between the return hose and the elbow. Remove that and then you can unscrew the cap as normal.

It's gotten too steep for me. I tried to get in contact with him so I could go see it and if I had been able to, probably would bid higher, cuz I could sell off a couple others...... But he hasn't given me the courtesy of any sort of reply. I can't cough up that kind of dough at a moments notice. If he had replied and we could work out an arrangement, I'd bid to win. Oh well.

The guy got around 3500 for it, which is a lot more than any of us with Yammy REGULAR factory turbos would get....good for him although I'm not sure his approach was complete or 100% accurate. It's a very sharp looking bike that will give it's owner (who got it for a steal for such a rare bike) lots of enjoyment.

I hope to read that someone here or on the turbo forum, got it!

Well, I know what you mean.. I struggle to justify new parts on my shed of 'survivors' including $40 for a new intake rubber on teh GT250 I'm working on right now. However you could always follow this guy's lead and build your own..

Well......I even called and left a message, and sent a text----if he had just gotten back to me, I would have been willing to go much higher since he's right around the corner. But, he didn't so---I didn't get the auction, but he didn't get the price that he WOULD have gotten.
