    Is there a craigslist realist thread? I just found one last night. 82 650 maxim parts bike, missing only the seat, the bolt/slide for the front caliper, and a few small misc things as far as I can tell. Called the guy and within 3 hours it was delivered right to my garage for such a great price I couldn't say no. Even if I dont know what I'm going to do with it hahaha. It has both sidecovers even though the left isnt shown in the pics

    I'm going to need pictures of that. A guy I worked with had an 81 and it definitely did not have a Seca or Virago badge

    I don't ever think Yamaha ever did badge them that way, but I do recall seeing a press release that had that wording.
    The R suffix places it in the same market category as the other Secas.
    Memories are like a sieve though.

    Went for a ride yesterday, started nice and cool yet once I got over the mountain it became low 30's and there was a bunch of snow and ice on the road. Fortunately, I kept my cool and just took it easy. Today I spend cleaning off the road grime. My bad posted in wrong area

    still an optimistic ride.... I ride around in the mountains and The Great Notches. always a surprise to see the weather differences that happen as you dip in the notch or crest the ridge.

    It hit 65 today, so got the bike out for the first time in weeks! Felt good! I have a new rear tire waiting at the dealer... need to get that rear wheel off.

    Depends. To an XS650 enthusiast it looks a little different. If that’s a 1979 XS6502F it has one year only aluminum wheels on it. Not too long ago I saw one of these on eBay get bid to stupid money. I’m from Georgia, where no title is no problem. Still, at the end of the day, I have to agree the price is up there. I bought one just like it for $30.

    Those wheels were used on several models, even if they were only on the XS650 for one year. Makes no sense to pay extra for them.
