Hey all, looking for a decent muffler to add to my bobber project. 1982 Yamaha Maxim XJ1100. Per my avatar, I built a bobber, so I'm looking for something that will fit that flat black scheme.

I'd like it to be short, not too quiet, flat black, mean looking and mean sounding. Need something that will fit my stock exhaust without too much modification. Any idea what size inlet I'm looking for when searching for a muffler? Help here would be GREATLY appreciated.

I understand I may need adapters to make something fit and I'm fine with that, but I'm going to defer to you guys and your expertise.

    Thanks in advance!

I like the sound of the Emgo mufflers and the price is right. They even have a flat black series that would look good. Not sure if I'm going to go with their standard or "shorty" model though.

If I remember correctly, the stock pipes are 1-3/4", correct? So the Emgo mufflers should slide on pretty easily? I know I'll have to fart around with the mounting, but I can manage that.

    Thoughts?

Can anyone with an XJ1100 confirm the size of the pipes before the muffler where it slips on? I'm thinking it's 1-3/4" but I don't have access to my bike at the moment and want to get things in place when I get it out of storage.

    Thanks!

Curious why the XS site would get me a quicker answer than this XJ site?

because it is a web site dedicated to the xs and xj1100.

only thing rarer on this site for members with 1100 is owners with the elusive 900

I'm already registered there. I guess I just assumed it was more XS over there and more XJ over here. You can see my confusion..... Which is EASY to do!
