Now that I have a mini collection, the plan was to offer one up for sale when my next project is complete.
Well, that day has arrived, and someone will be able to enjoy this one:
    upload_2019-5-5_16-36-26.jpeg

It's posted locally on C-list with a video link and huge list of mods and upgrades. You can check it out here:
    https://newhaven.craigslist.org/mcy/d/orange-custom-yamaha-maxim-rocket/6881701472.html

    And a video here:

This is what it looked like when I originally got it:
    upload_2019-5-5_16-29-51.jpeg

Willing to be flexible with my $3495 asking price and consider a serious offer from a member here.
You can start a conversation with me to get more details if you or someone you know may be looking.

    Thanks,

    Tony

damn. I'd be on that like fat kids on candy if you were closer, I was richer, and didn't have a wife.
Come to think about it, I'd have more money if I didn't have a wife...

    Thanks,

Swapped it over from the previous build and have another paint "theme" for the 750X.

Hoping to have it done for the carb clinic;)

So glad after all these years my wife understands my "addiction". If it weren't for her, I'd probable skip the mortgage payment and spend it all on the bikes....

Absolutely stunning work. I hope she goes to a good home.

Are you going to make it this year?

It's there, in all it's glory....

Hoping so. Just a month away and the strange thing is that my wife say's I don't do anything fun and should go.

Thanks! Sure you don't want another one that you can ride while you're doing the valve clearances on yours?

    Thanks for all the compliments!

Well I brought the 750X to the carb clinic while this one sat home in the garage.
Had some interest on C-list and still for sale locally after running an ad on Cycle Trader too.
Weird thing is the person most interested lives in North Dakota, and is getting back into bikes like I did back in my Forty's. He had an 82 750 Maxim and hated to part ways with it. Shipping is the big challenge holding him back.

So now decided to reduce the asking price to $2975 and wanted to post the new link:
    https://newhaven.craigslist.org/mcy/d/orange-custom-yamaha-xj700x-maxim/6916846552.html

Gotta make room for the next project, so let me know if there's any interest within the XJ community.

    Thanks,
    Tony

Just curious. Is that the original stock handlebar?

No, not the original handle bar, even though I do have one in really nice shape.
The ones on it now I believe are the "Euro" bend?

Would you happen to remember where you got them? I want to do a windshield but the stock bars seem to narrow. Thanks.

Well after several months of offering the 700X up for sale, I finally had a local guy purchase it today.

Great story about why he was interested and mainly because he had one years ago.
Hopefully he'll join the xj bikes site and keep up on all the latest here.
