New coils and now it backfires and won't start it kind of starts but the second you give it any thou

    It seems like it wants to start and it idle for a second and a half the second you put any gas on it it dies

    untill it warms up a little more more throttle is not the answer. more choke

    I'm not sure what kind they are I'll have to check but they ohm perfectly

    Reed,

    Pls give us a little more detail of what the issue/issues are. I get that you are having spark and running issues, but was the bike ever running? Give us a background at what the bike has been doing too. Is it new to you? Was at a barn find? Were the carbs and gas tank cleaned? Or is this something that just happened and you decided to change out the coils just because?

    Thanks and looking forward to some background info.

    If it runs at all, the coils and ignition are probably OK. I think the problem is fuel related. If you spray carb cleaner into the airbox, or put some propane in there (from an unlit torch), does it run better for a few more seconds? If it does, that would be more confirmation that spark is OK and fuel is not. My guess is that you need to do a full carb overhaul.
